Green running guide for runners

VHO - Taking place on the morning of August 24th at the National Exhibition Center, the "My Vietnam 2025" race, with the participation of 20,000 athletes, is expected to set a Vietnamese record for the marathon with the largest number of participants wearing the red flag with a yellow star.

Therefore, the organizers have provided detailed guidance to participating athletes to encourage a green run. Accordingly, athletes participating in the race are advised to choose environmentally friendly equipment that can significantly reduce negative impacts on the environment.

According to the United Nations Environment Programme 2019, washing clothes alone releases approximately half a million tons of microplastics into the ocean each year – equivalent to nearly 3 billion polyester T-shirts.

Therefore, the organizers advise runners to invest in durable products to avoid frequent replacements and purchases, prioritizing green brands and looking for companies that use recycled materials and have sustainable production processes.

The organizers also advised runners to extend the lifespan of their products by properly maintaining and caring for their shoes and apparel to use them longer, reduce waste, and reuse or repair them whenever possible.

The race is a tribute to the generations of ancestors who sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.

Runners participating in the race are also encouraged to use reusable water bottles; limit bringing snacks with plastic packaging, and combine running with picking up litter along the way…

The My Vietnam 2025 race also kicks off a series of activities celebrating National Day on September 2nd, coinciding with the Exhibition of 80 Years of National Achievements, attracting a large number of people, tourists, and sports enthusiasts. The event is jointly organized by Vinhomes Joint Stock Company, Zaha Vietnam, the Vietnam Athletics Federation, UNDP, and other relevant agencies.

With the theme "The Fierce Spirit of Vietnam," the race is a tribute to the generations of ancestors who sacrificed for independence and freedom, and also an opportunity to look back on the 80-year journey of building and developing the country. Tens of thousands of athletes wearing the red and yellow jerseys will create a vibrant symbol of patriotism, aspiration for progress, and national unity in the era of integration.
