When it was first launched, the iPhone 16 was listed at 23 million VND for the 128GB version and 32 million VND for the 512GB version. After the new policy was applied, the 128GB version was reduced by 1 million VND to 22 million VND; the 512GB version was reduced by 2-2.5 million VND to below 30 million VND.

Prices also vary between colors, with teal maintaining the highest price, while pink and black versions are 200-300 thousand VND cheaper.

This is the first price reduction since the iPhone 16 went on sale in Vietnam on September 27th.

Currently, the price adjustment only applies to the standard iPhone 16 model; other versions remain unchanged. However, users no longer need to pay extra for accessories.

According to statistics from many retailers, after the official launch of the iPhone 16 series, the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max accounted for 70-80% of sales, with some retailers recording figures as high as 90%. Meanwhile, the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus only reached about 10%.

Therefore, representatives from several retail chains stated that the price reduction for the iPhone 16 aims to stimulate demand for the product and quell the hype surrounding the Pro and Pro Max models.

Demand for the iPhone 16 and 16 Pro is also a general trend across markets. Specifically, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, iPhone 16 production will be cut by 13 million units between Q4 2024 and Q2 2025. Apple is adjusting its phone production orders, with the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus models being the most affected.

With the biggest cuts expected in Q4 2024, Ming-Chi Kuo estimates Apple's partners will ship 80 million iPhone 16s (down 8 million from the original plan and 4 million from the iPhone 15 last year).

In Q1 2025, the number of iPhones assembled decreased by 3 million units to 45 million, and in Q2 2025 it further decreased by 2 million units to 39 million.

According to analysis, iPhone 16 sales will decline in the first half of 2025 due to decreased demand combined with the launch of the more affordable iPhone SE 4. Therefore, the cost-cutting is justified.
