It's 50 percent "tougher" than first-generation Ceramic Shield glass, and twice as tough as "glass found in any other smartphone." It's unclear what Apple means by tougher, but it typically focuses more on drop protection than scratch resistance when advertising its materials.

Apple first used Ceramic Shield glass (developed in partnership with Corning) in 2020 for the iPhone 12 models. Corning also makes Gorilla Glass, which Apple's competitors use, including the new "Gorilla Armor" that Samsung is including in the Galaxy S24 Ultra. But Ceramic Shield seems to be exclusive to Apple.
