Macrumors , citing sources from South Korea, revealed that the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro, expected this year, will have storage options of up to 2TB.
According to the information aggregation account yeux1122 on the Naver blog platform, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will have double the maximum storage capacity compared to the iPhone 15 Pro models.
This move is believed to be a result of Apple beginning to supply its own QLC (Quad Level Cell) NAND memory chips for the next generation of iPhones, enabling storage capacities of up to 2TB at a lower price.
Apple's use of QLC NAND could allow the company to integrate more memory into a smaller space at a cost three times lower than the TLC memory currently used in iPhones.
Additionally, QLC memory has the disadvantage of being less robust than TLC memory, leading to lower reliability. It also has a lower read cycle count and slower transfer speeds compared to its competitors.
However, the advantage of QLC is that it allows the use of 4 bits of data per memory cell instead of 3, so on a chip format similar to TLC memory, QLC can provide more storage capacity while being cheaper to manufacture.

Notably, recent leaks also suggest that the iPhone 16 will feature a Capture Button.
Compared to the physical button currently found on Xperia phones, the Capture Button will have more functions. iPhone 16 Pro users can zoom in and out of images by swiping the Capture Button left or right, or press lightly once to focus and record video when pressed harder.
According to The Information, the new button will encourage iPhone users to record more videos. Along with developing new features to support video recording, Apple hopes to attract more users and boost sales for the iPhone 16 generation.
Apple's iPhone 16 series is expected to launch this September. As of now, the official design of the iPhone 16 hasn't been finalized, so the design and features could still change in the future.
Does the iPhone 16 Pro have a 48MP ultra-wide-angle camera?
Major upgrades will be available on the iPhone 16 Pro.
Are only the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max the ones with major design changes?
