The newly released iPhone 16e offers many of the modern features of the iPhone 16 series at a more affordable price, potentially appealing to those looking to upgrade, especially iPhone 14 users.

Below is a detailed comparison between the iPhone 16e and the iPhone 14.
iPhone 16e vs. iPhone 14: A clear advantage.
The iPhone 14 is only a little over two years old and until recently was still being sold by Apple at a starting price of $599. Now, the iPhone 16e has taken that position at the same price of $599 and it's better in almost every respect.
Unlike the previous iPhone SE series, the iPhone 16e retains most of the key features of the current iPhone lineup. Furthermore, despite being a budget iPhone model, Apple has equipped it with the powerful A18 chip, 8GB of RAM, and Apple Intelligence support.
Here are some of the advantages of the iPhone 16e over the iPhone 14:

In terms of features that remain unchanged, the iPhone 16e and iPhone 14 share many similarities. The following features are practically identical: Super Retina XDR (OLED) display; 6.1-inch screen size; the same overall design; both use a "notch" design instead of Dynamic Island; and a 12MP front camera.
Given these similarities, for many iPhone 14 users, the iPhone 16e will be an undeniable upgrade.
However, the iPhone 16e also has some limitations compared to the iPhone 14. Because the iPhone 16e is considered the successor to the iPhone SE, it comes with some drawbacks typical of the regular iPhone SE.
Therefore, for users who own an iPhone 14, upgrading to the iPhone 16e will mean losing some features compared to the iPhone 14: no Ultra Wide (0.5x) camera or Macro mode; no MagSafe support (wireless charging is still available but slower); no Cinematic mode or Action mode when recording video ; no Ultra Wideband (UWB) chip; only 5 GPU cores instead of 6 cores as on the iPhone 14.

Depending on the user's needs, the above list of limitations of the iPhone 16e may be unimportant or not a problem at all.
If you frequently use the Ultra Wide camera or have many favorite MagSafe accessories, upgrading to the iPhone 16e might not be the ideal choice.
Should you upgrade from iPhone 14 to iPhone 16e?
Overall, the iPhone 16e offers significant upgrade value for iPhone 14 users. The two devices share many similarities, making the transition easy, but the iPhone 16e still boasts worthwhile improvements such as stronger performance, Apple Intelligence support, an upgraded camera, and better battery life.
However, if you need an Ultra Wide camera or MagSafe, you should probably consider upgrading to the iPhone 16 or iPhone 16 Plus instead of the iPhone 16e.
The iPhone 16e is priced at VND 16.99 million for the 128GB version, VND 19.99 million for the 256GB version, and VND 25.99 million for the 512GB version. Apple began accepting pre-orders on February 28th and shipping started on March 7th in Vietnam.
