Many users have reported that Wi-Fi on the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and iPhone Air frequently disconnects, especially when unlocking the device. This issue has attracted hundreds of comments on MacRumors, Reddit, and Apple's support forums over the past four days, but the extent of the impact is currently unclear.

The new iPhone models all use Apple's own N1 chip and support Wi-Fi 7.
The issue causes iPhones to temporarily lose Wi-Fi connection and then automatically reconnect, disrupting CarPlay in cars – which relies on Wi-Fi connectivity. Some users have noticed this happening while wearing a paired and unlocked Apple Watch, but this has not been confirmed as the cause. It is currently unclear whether this is a hardware or software issue, but it is likely that Apple can fix it through an iOS update.
Notably, all four new iPhone models use Apple's own N1 chip, supporting Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread, replacing the Broadcom chip in previous generations. While Apple previously touted the N1 for its energy efficiency and improved features like AirDrop and Personal Hotspot, current reality shows some issues with Wi-Fi connectivity.
While waiting for Apple to provide an official response and solution, users can apply some temporary measures to improve the intermittent Wi-Fi situation. Many people report that updating to iOS 26.1 beta helps stabilize the connection. Others have noticed that when the Apple Watch is locked after pairing, the number of dropped connections is significantly reduced.
Additionally, users can adjust Wi-Fi settings by disabling MLO (Multi-Link Operation) mode or splitting the frequency band into separate SSIDs to minimize conflicts. For those using CarPlay, switching to a wired connection via USB cable is also considered an effective solution to maintain stability.
