Many users are reporting intermittent Wi-Fi on their iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and iPhone Air, especially when unlocking their devices. The issue has attracted hundreds of comments on MacRumors, Reddit, and Apple's support forums over the past four days, but it's unclear how widespread the issue is.

The new iPhone models all use the Apple-designed N1 chip, which supports Wi-Fi 7.
The issue causes iPhones to temporarily lose Wi-Fi and then reconnect automatically, and disrupts CarPlay in cars, which relies on Wi-Fi connectivity. Some users have noticed the issue occurring when wearing a paired and unlocked Apple Watch, but there’s no confirmation that this is the cause. It’s unclear whether this is a hardware or software issue, but Apple could potentially fix it with an iOS update.
Notably, all four new iPhone models use Apple's own N1 chip, which supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread, replacing the Broadcom chip on previous generations. While Apple once praised the N1 for its energy efficiency and improved features like AirDrop and Personal Hotspot, reality has shown some problems with Wi-Fi connectivity.
While waiting for Apple to provide an official response and solution, users can take some temporary measures to improve the unstable Wi-Fi situation. Many people reported that updating to iOS 26.1 beta helped the connection become more stable. Others noticed that when locking the paired Apple Watch, the network dropout problem was significantly reduced.
Additionally, users can adjust Wi-Fi settings by disabling MLO (Multi-Link Operation) mode or separating the frequency band into separate SSIDs to limit conflicts. For those using CarPlay, switching to a wired connection via USB cable is also considered an effective solution to maintain stability.
