"Large retailers like The Gioi Dien Dong,FPT Shop, and CellPhoneS don't have it in stock, and the expected waiting time is early November," Mr. Van said.
A quick survey shows that at most major retailers, the silver and orange iPhone 17 Pro Max are sold out. Some have the blue option available, but mostly the high-capacity versions of 512 GB, 1 TB, or 2 TB.
At smaller retailers, the silver 17 Pro Max 256 GB ranges from 45-46 million VND, the orange one from 42-43 million VND, and the green one from 40-41 million VND. The silver 17 Pro model is rare and has a price difference of only 1-3 million VND compared to the Pro Max series.

Le Hieu, owner of an Apple store on Huynh Thuc Khang Street ( Hanoi ), said that genuine iPhones in Vietnam are being sold at record inflated prices compared to previous years. In the first week after its launch on September 19th, the silver iPhone 17 Pro Max was priced 12-15 million VND higher than usual, and only cooled down slightly thanks to the influx of imported units from markets like the US and Singapore.
According to representatives from several retailers, Vietnam is experiencing higher demand than in previous years due to the early launch of the iPhone 17 series. Additionally, the iPhone 17 series features significant design changes, leading many to upgrade from older models.
A representative from a major retail chain revealed that in the first shipment last year, Vietnam was allocated approximately 120,000 iPhone 16 series units, but this year only 40,000 units were received due to early sales coinciding with major markets worldwide . Meanwhile, pre-orders at these retailers have reached nearly 200,000 units, so deliveries are expected to be completed by the end of October.
Hoang Tuan, the owner of an iPhone store on Hue Street (Hanoi), predicts that the prices of the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max models will return to their listed prices by the end of October or the beginning of November. Some less popular models, such as the green color, may even be sold below the listed price after about a month.
"After the initial shortage, Apple will implement price adjustments to boost sales," a representative from a major retail chain commented.
The iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max duo feature significant design changes, including a larger camera module and an aluminum casing instead of titanium. Pre-orders opened in Vietnam on September 12th, with delivery a week later. Immediately upon release, the 256GB orange version sold out in minutes, followed by the silver version, while the green version received less attention.
