On the social media platform Weibo, the account of leaker Fixed Focus Digital stated that Apple will increase the price of the iPhone 18 Pro series. Additionally, the foldable iPhone will be approximately 10-20% more expensive than expected.
"iPhones haven't increased in price yet. However, the iPhone 18 Pro, expected to launch in September, will definitely be more expensive. In particular, Apple's first foldable iPhone model will cost 10-20% more than expected," this leaker said.
Back in April, Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman reported that the price of a foldable iPhone could exceed $2,000 . If the rumor is accurate, this would be the most expensive smartphone Apple has ever sold, surpassing the 2TB iPhone 17 Pro Max ( $1,999 ).
Similarly, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo estimated in May that the price of a foldable iPhone would be no less than $2,000 , and possibly even higher than $2,500 .
Other predictions regarding the price of the foldable iPhone fall within a similar range. Based on the latest rumors, the product will cost from $2,200 (an expected 10% increase). According to MacRumors , higher-capacity versions could easily exceed $3,000 .
Regarding timing, Macworld, citing internal sources, reports that the foldable iPhone is likely to launch at the same time as the iPhone 18 Pro, but will reach consumers later. Mass production of the iPhone 18 Pro is currently higher than that of the foldable iPhone.
In 2017, Apple launched the iPhone 8 and iPhone X in September, but the iPhone X didn't go on sale until November. According to the latest rumors, the gap between the two models this time will not be as long as it was nine years ago.
On June 26th, leaker Digital Chat Station asserted that it's "highly unlikely" that the iPhone 18 Pro won't increase in price. In China , the iPhone 17 Pro starts at 8,999 yuan (approximately $1,325 ). With the iPhone 18 Pro, Apple might raise the price to 9,999 yuan (approximately $1,472 ) to maintain profitability.
According to MacRumors , Apple has always kept the starting price of iPhones the same in China and the US. Taking the rumored 11% increase in China as an example, the iPhone 18 Pro in the US would cost around $1,220 (the iPhone 17 Pro costs $1,099 ).
Meanwhile, Instant Digital gave a higher figure. This leaker predicted the starting price of the iPhone 18 Pro Max (256GB version) to be around 10,999 or 11,499 yuan ( US$ 1,620-1,693), which is quite expensive for a typical flat smartphone.

Data from the supply chain also shows that the production costs of the iPhone 18 Pro are increasing. According to TechInsights , Apple pays around $39 for 12GB of DRAM in the iPhone 17 Pro. For the iPhone 18 Pro, that figure could reach $145 , increasing product material costs by 25%.
Based on similar cost projections, Apple could price the iPhone 18 Pro at around $1,369 to maintain a similar profit margin to its predecessor. Including the upgraded camera system, the WSJ estimates the product will have a starting price of $1,399 or higher.
Rumors about the price of the iPhone 18 Pro emerged after Apple raised prices on most products, except for iPhones, AirPods, and Apple Watch. CEO Tim Cook admitted that the price increase was unavoidable. He said the rising cost of storage chips was like a "once-in-a-century flood."
Apple typically chooses to offset component costs rather than pass them on to customers. Therefore, the most recent price increase shows that the company's approach has changed.
