Since iOS 14, iPhone users have become familiar with the green and orange dots that indicate when the camera or microphone is active. However, the Predator spyware has recently been updated to completely disable this feature.
Predator, developed by Intellexa, can mask warning signals and silently activate cameras and microphones. Jamf experts discovered malware that directly interferes with SpringBoard, rendering the iPhone interface "blind" to surreptitious recording activities.
Although this technique is often targeted at politicians or businesspeople, it still serves as a warning to the average user. Predator proves that even the notoriously secure iOS ecosystem is not impenetrable. Users are advised to always update iOS, restart their devices weekly, and use advanced security apps.
Being vigilant and proactively protecting your devices is the only way to reduce the risk of being tracked in the digital age. Readers are invited to watch the video : Apple kicks off its 2026 product week with the affordable iPhone 17e and iPad Air with the M4 chip.
