Currently, all iPhone cameras have a 48MP resolution, including the ultra-wide-angle and telephoto lenses. However, this is expected to change soon.

Recent reports indicate that Apple is developing a 200MP camera system for the iPhone. This sensor is expected to be manufactured by Samsung and implemented in the iPhone by 2028.
Samsung introduced the 200MP camera on the Galaxy S23 Ultra in 2023. To this day, its successors still feature this sensor system.
Higher resolution cameras promise to help devices capture photos with more detail. At the same time, this upgrade will also improve image quality when printing at larger sizes.
However, the iPhone 18 product line is unlikely to feature this upgrade. On the iPhone 18 Pro versions, Apple is reportedly focusing on improving low-light photography performance rather than increasing camera resolution.
According to Digital Chat Station , the 200MP camera is still in the component quality assessment phase. Tests will be conducted to evaluate the feasibility of deploying this component in the supply chain.
