'John Wick 5' officially hits the big screen.

Joe Drake revealed this information to the press on Thursday (US time), according to a source from The Hollywood Reporter .   He confirmed, saying, "The official information is that Ballerina is the first spin-off film in the John Wick franchise and will be released next year. We are developing three other projects, including John Wick 5 and a television series called The Continental , which will be airing soon."

It is unclear when John Wick 5 will be released to audiences.

He further explained why they were developing part 5 so early, while part 4 was still showing in theaters and generating profits: "We're building an entire cinematic world so that when part 5 comes out, it will all form a solid system – a system that lets the audience know how we started telling the story of this 'pencil assassin.' But at the same time, the audience can also have confidence in the steady development of the John Wick brand."

In The Hollywood Reporter 's Behind the Screen podcast, director Chad Stahelski, who helmed the fourth installment, shared that he had ideas for the latest film and was ready to delve deeper into them. "It makes sense that audiences want more," Chad Stahelski stated. In the fourth film, John Wick (played by Keanu Reeves) returns and is determined to overthrow the High Table organization. The film also features other artists such as Ian McShane, Laurence Fishburne, Bill Skarsgard, and Donnie Yen.

John Wick 4 is currently showing and is still making a profit.

John Wick 4 has now grossed over $428.9 million worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo. The total revenue of all four films has just reached $1 billion globally since its initial release in 2014. All the films have been critically acclaimed, receiving ratings of 86%, 89%, 89%, and 94% respectively – all earning a "fresh" rating.
