The 2024/25 season for Juventus is a disaster. |
Juventus have been a disappointment this season. They were knocked out of the Champions League in the playoffs by PSV, then lost to Empoli (who used a reserve team) in the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia.
In Serie A, the “Old Lady” has never been able to get into the championship race. With only two rounds left, they have to compete fiercely for the last ticket to the European Cup, while Napoli, Inter and Atalanta have already secured their places.
Under Thiago Motta and interim coach Igor Tudor, Juventus have never created a clear identity. The board is no longer patient, and now it is time for them to start over - from zero. The person Juventus has placed all their trust in is none other than Antonio Conte - the "hero" who helped the club win 3 consecutive Scudetti and was an icon since his playing days.
Conte is currently working miracles at Napoli, taking the team from 10th place last season to the top of Serie A. He only needs 2 wins at the end of the season to win the championship with Napoli. However, the simmering conflict with President De Laurentiis after the January transfer window (Kvaratskhelia was sold, Okafor arrived but was not used) has made Conte's future uncertain.
If Conte leaves Napoli, he is likely to reunite with Juventus. In response, Napoli is said to consider inviting Allegri - former Juve captain - to sit in the "hot seat".
Not only targeting Conte, Juventus also plans to recruit Antonio Pintus, the famous "fitness coach" currently on the payroll of Real Madrid. Pintus used to work with Conte at Inter Milan, and more importantly, he will not follow Ancelotti to lead the Brazilian national team.
Having played and coached at Juventus under Trapattoni, Lippi and Deschamps, Pintus knows the Old Lady's DNA well - and a return to the Allianz Stadium is not far-fetched.
Antonio Conte is being targeted by Juventus for the coaching position. |
While Conte and Pintus are being eyed for technical roles, Giorgio Chiellini will be the “conductor” behind the scenes. After Francesco Calvo, the club’s head of revenue, left to become CEO of Aston Villa, Chiellini has been given a big opportunity. The Italian defensive legend will work closely with sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli, while also taking on the role of advisor to the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) that Calvo left behind.
The plan is clear. The trust is well placed. Conte-Pintus-Chiellini, three names that fully combine identity, experience and youth. If Juve can realize this "reconstruction dream", Serie A will witness the return of a force that once dominated Italian football for a decade.
