Along with the announcement of the service termination, an update on operational status and customer service is provided. Customers using K+ set-top boxes and satellite dishes can still watch 10 VTV channels and other local television channels broadcast free of charge via satellite. Subscribers who have paid their subscriptions and whose terms are still valid after December 31st can request a refund at the website: https://hoantien.kplus. The broadcaster will pay the remaining balance in January 2026.
Earlier that same day,FPT Play announced that it had acquired the broadcasting rights for the English Premier League in Vietnam, valid until the 2031 season. Prior to this, K+ held the exclusive rights to the world's most exciting football league for 16 years.
Established in 2009, K+ made a big impact upon its arrival in Vietnam, offering pay-TV services with broadcasting rights to top football leagues. However, the company was slow to adapt during the period when the internet and OTT app-based distribution formats developed. The problem of illegal football streaming and copyright infringement by users also significantly impacted the company.
Since July, information about K+ Television's impending withdrawal from Vietnam has spread on social media, attracting significant public discussion. The reason stems from Canal+, a major shareholder of the broadcaster, considering withdrawing from the Vietnamese market due to "significant" losses and "no viable solution in sight," according to DecodeTV .
Canal+ CEO Maxime Saada said: "We may make a decision to significantly restructure our operations here, or even consider withdrawing entirely."
