K-pop's rise: An optimistic sign.

Người Lao ĐộngNgười Lao Động30/10/2023

To date, numerous South Korean music groups and group members have continuously visited Ho Chi Minh City, much to the delight of their fans.

Previously, Vietnam wasn't a preferred destination for famous K-pop groups like Blackpink. They chose to perform in the West, in Thailand, Singapore, etc., and didn't think about performing directly for Vietnamese audiences.

Occasionally, some Korean stars come to Da Nang for photoshoots, sightseeing , or to Hanoi for concerts before going to Ho Chi Minh City for business-tourism purposes, rather than for professionally promoted concerts. Some fans express regret, wondering why Vietnam is not yet on the tour map for K-pop groups.

However, K-pop became vibrant and exciting when Blackpink performed in Hanoi for the first time. Despite mixed opinions surrounding Blackpink's performance, the two nights were very successful with a large audience. Blackpink grossed over 333 billion VND and received countless positive reviews.

Following Blackpink's success, a host of actors, singers, and members of famous Korean music groups have come to Ho Chi Minh City, including Chanyeol from EXO, Park Ji-hoon from Wanna One, CIX, LSS (Siwon, Leeteuk, Shindong) from Super Junior, actor Lee Jong-suk, and singer BamBam from GOT7...

Airport escorts for K-pop idols have returned, along with a constant stream of K-pop news updates on Vietnamese websites and forums. Many fans believe Blackpink has brought a fresh wave of K-pop to Vietnam, rekindling the enthusiasm of fans that had been waning for some time.

According to insiders, this is an optimistic sign, helping to provide diverse and attractive "spiritual nourishment," and the audience is the beneficiary. Vietnamese audiences have more choices and can freely search for products that suit them to enjoy, satisfying their entertainment needs.

The rise of K-pop has also created competition in the domestic music market, pushing Vietnamese singers to work harder to attract fans.
