On the morning of March 11th, the International Trade Conference - Connecting and Elevating Vietnamese Coffee - took place in Buon Ma Thuot City ( Dak Lak province). This is one of the main activities within the framework of the 9th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival 2025.
The conference was attended by 800 delegates and guests, including 200 international guests, the International Coffee Organization (ICO), and trade partners from countries such as the UK, Germany, Japan, the US, Australia, Singapore, South Korea, China, and Brazil.

The International Trade Conference - Connecting and Elevating Vietnamese Coffee is an important forum for connecting stakeholders, from managers, businesses, experts to farmers. The discussions on market trends, growing region standards, adaptation to the EUDR, and strategies for building Buon Ma Thuot into a global coffee destination all have practical significance, helping the Vietnamese coffee industry find a sustainable path forward.
This event also provides a platform for Dak Lak to promote its coffee products to the world. In particular, the participation of Ms. Vanusia Noguiera, General Director of ICO, presents a great opportunity for the Dak Lak coffee industry in Vietnam to expand cooperation with international organizations and markets.

In his opening remarks at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Ha, Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Dak Lak province, stated: With the renowned brand and geographical indication "Buon Ma Thuot Coffee," present in over 100 countries and territories, it provides a foundation for the flavor of Vietnamese coffee, and Buon Ma Thuot coffee in particular, to continue spreading to new potential markets. Although many encouraging achievements have been made, the Vietnamese coffee industry still faces significant challenges that need to be overcome in order to maintain its development momentum in the future.
"With proactive and creative approaches, and innovative methods of trade promotion and product advertising, I believe that Vietnamese coffee in general, and Buon Ma Thuot coffee in particular, will increasingly affirm its quality, reputation, and brand, and have a solid position in the domestic and international markets," Mr. Ha emphasized .
This year's conference focuses on in-depth discussions of the coffee industry, including: the coffee export situation for the 2023-2024 crop year; the global coffee market and consumption trends; assessments of current global coffee market trends and consumption barriers; market orientation for the Vietnamese coffee industry; and the role of businesses in elevating Vietnamese coffee and building the Buon Ma Thuot coffee brand – a world-class coffee destination.
In addition, the conference also focused on discussing plans to implement activities to support adaptation to the European Union's regulations on non-deforestation products (EUDR) for the coffee industry, aiming to help Vietnamese coffee-growing regions quickly adopt traceability systems, support farmers in complying with international standards, and promote the development of EUDR-compliant growing areas in Dak Lak...

Dak Lak is considered the "coffee capital" of Vietnam, with an area of over 200,000 hectares, accounting for over 30% of the country's total area, and an annual production of approximately 550,000 tons. Coffee is a key agricultural product in the economic structure of Dak Lak province, accounting for a large proportion of the total social product, with export value reaching nearly 900 million USD per year. In 2024, Dak Lak coffee was exported to 71 countries and territories worldwide, primarily green coffee beans to long-standing traditional markets such as Germany, Switzerland, Japan, Italy, the United States, and Russia. |
