According to reports from many drivers, at around 1 PM on the same day, traffic congestion remained severe on the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway, heading from the An Phu interchange towards Long Thanh bridge.
According to reports, traffic volume has increased dramatically due to people flocking to tourist destinations during summer weekends, causing the roads to become overloaded and many intersections at the eastern gateways of the city to experience congestion.
According to observations, traffic congestion began from the Long Phuoc toll station area, extending to the An Phu intersection for a distance of approximately 10km. Thousands of vehicles lined up, moving slowly, and at times almost coming to a standstill on the highway.

The congestion is not only affecting the expressway itself, but is also spreading to connecting roads. On Vo Chi Cong road, at the Phu Huu roundabout, long lines of vehicles are seen waiting to enter the expressway. Similarly, on Mai Chi Tho road, the section intersecting with Vo Nguyen Giap road also recorded a high volume of traffic, making movement difficult as vehicles converged on the eastern gateway.
According to authorities, the main cause has been identified as the sharp increase in travel demand during summer weekends. This is the time when many families choose to travel by private car to tourist destinations.
To reduce pressure on the expressway and avoid the risk of more serious traffic congestion, the Highway Traffic Police Team No. 6, in coordination with the Cat Lai Traffic Police of the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department, has implemented various traffic control measures. At the Phu Huu roundabout, authorities are alternately opening and closing the interchange leading to the expressway to control the volume of vehicles entering the main route.
At the intersection of Vo Nguyen Giap and Mai Chi Tho roads, traffic is also regulated by opening and closing the gates in stages. This measure helps to limit the simultaneous influx of vehicles onto the expressway, reducing the risk of prolonged traffic congestion on the main route and access roads.
Police advise people to choose a suitable route to avoid traffic congestion on the highway. If people are coming from Saigon Bridge and intend to enter Mai Chi Tho to get onto the highway, they can go straight on Vo Nguyen Giap, towards Dong Nai Bridge to take National Highway 51 or National Highway 1.
For those traveling on Vo Chi Cong road to access the expressway at the Phu Huu roundabout, they can go straight to Phu Huu bridge, take road D1 towards Vo Nguyen Giap road, then turn right towards Dong Nai bridge.

Due to traffic congestion on the highway, Vo Chi Cong road, specifically the section near the Phu Huu roundabout, was also affected, with a long line of vehicles heading towards the My Thuy roundabout.

Long lines of traffic jams stretched along Vo Chi Cong road on the weekend.

Traffic police are actively directing traffic at the Phu Huu roundabout.

Traffic was backed up on Vo Chi Cong road as authorities restricted vehicles from entering the expressway at the Phu Huu roundabout.

Due to traffic congestion on the highway, police restricted vehicles from entering the highway, directing cars to go straight along Vo Chi Cong Street to Vo Nguyen Giap Street.

Many drivers don't go straight along Vo Nguyen Giap road to Dong Nai bridge, but instead detour back to Lien Phuong road (which runs through The Global City urban area) to "find a way" to get onto the expressway.
