Opening of the 14th National Congress of the Party

According to the plan, the 14th National Congress of the Party will take place from January 19-25 in Hanoi . With the motto "Unity - Democracy - Discipline - Breakthrough - Development," the 14th National Congress of the Party will define the thinking, vision, and strategic decisions for Vietnam to steadily advance in the new era; and successfully achieve the two centenary goals in 2030 and 2045.

The theme of the 14th National Congress is: "Under the glorious banner of the Party, working together to achieve the national development goals by 2030; self-reliant and confident in advancing strongly in the era of national progress, for peace , independence, democracy, prosperity, happiness, and steadily progressing towards socialism."

At the preparatory session yesterday morning, January 19th, the Congress observed a minute of silence to commemorate the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and the members of the 13th Central Committee who passed away during the 13th Congress term.

At the preparatory session, delegates also voted to approve the preparatory session agenda, regulations, working program of the congress, and election regulations for the 14th National Congress of the Party.

The Congress elected a presidium consisting of 16 members of the 13th Politburo. The Congress also elected a secretariat of 5 people and a committee to verify the credentials of delegates attending the Congress, consisting of 13 people.

The report verifying the qualifications of delegates to the 14th Party Congress subsequently confirmed that all 1,586 delegates summoned to the congress were qualified.

During the 14th National Congress, delegates will discuss and approve important documents including: the Political Report; the Report summarizing some theoretical and practical issues on the socialist-oriented reform process in Vietnam over the past 40 years; the Report summarizing 15 years of implementing the Party Charter (2011-2025) and proposing directions for supplementing and amending the Party Charter; and the Report reviewing the leadership and guidance of the 13th Central Committee.

The Congress will also discuss and approve the Report on Personnel Work of the 14th Party Central Committee; and carry out the election process for the 14th Party Central Committee in accordance with the election regulations of the 14th Party Congress.
