BTO - On the morning of October 5th, at the Cham Cultural Exhibition Center, the Provincial Museum held the opening ceremony for activities showcasing various forms of Cham culture; receiving artifacts and antiques for 2024; and exhibiting a thematic exhibition on "The Imprint of Cham Pottery". The activities took place on October 5th and 6th, in celebration of the 2024 Katê Festival of the Cham people.
Attendees included Mr. Bui The Nhan - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Binh Thuan province; Ms. Thanh Thi Ky - Head of the Ethnic Affairs Committee of the Provincial People's Council; and Mr. Doan Van Thuan - Director of the Binh Thuan Provincial Museum.
Also attending were Mr. Nguyen Van Linh - Deputy Director of the Ninh Thuan Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism ; Mr. Nguyen Xuan Loi - Director of the Ninh Thuan Cham Culture Research Center; artifact collectors from within and outside the province, local leaders and people of the Cham village in Bac Binh.
At the opening ceremony, Mr. Doan Van Thuan, Director of the Binh Thuan Provincial Museum, stated: Activities at the Cham Culture Exhibition Center during the annual Katê Festival are one of the unique intangible cultural forms that are appreciated by both domestic and international tourists. With continuous efforts to innovate and create in organizing on-site activities, the Center always makes use of its existing facilities and regularly adds new artifacts to enrich the exhibition themes…
This year, activities at the Cham Cultural Exhibition Center are also part of a series of events celebrating the 2024 Katê Festival, which was recently organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism at the Pô Sah Inư tower relic site on October 1-2, 2024, coinciding with the announcement of the Prime Minister's decision recognizing the golden Linga discovered at the Pô Dam tower, Phú Lạc commune, Tuy Phong district in 2013 as a national treasure.
In 2024, the Provincial Museum received 33 Cham cultural artifacts donated by collectors inside and outside the province, bringing the total number of original artifacts at the Center to over 1,500. The Director of the Provincial Museum pledged that the artifacts of the museum, the exhibits of collectors, and the donated items will be carefully preserved, systematically and scientifically stored, and effectively utilized to preserve and promote the unique cultural values of the Cham people, contributing to the development of an advanced Vietnamese culture rich in national identity.
In addition, on October 5th and 6th, the Cham Cultural Exhibition Center will host a thematic exhibition on "The Imprint of Cham Pottery"; a seminar on "Exchanging experiences on the preservation and promotion of traditional Cham pottery villages"; a Cham pottery making competition, a Cham script writing competition, a weaving demonstration, and gingerbread making; and a folk art exchange between Binh Thuan and Ninh Thuan provinces…
