The Dong Dang Festival is a traditional festival held on the 10th day of the first lunar month every year, deeply rooted in Vietnamese folk culture and beliefs, and is organized in conjunction with the provincial-level historical site of the Dong Dang Mother Goddess Temple.
According to historical documents, the Dong Dang Mother Goddess Temple was first built around the 19th century on a rocky outcrop at the foot of the mountain, about 300 meters northeast of its current location.
About a few decades later, finding the location too cramped, the local people moved the temple to its current location and erected a small incense burner for worship. Since 1990, the local people have contributed funds and labor to the construction of the temple.

According to folklore, the Mother Goddess Temple is where the meeting between Mother Goddess Lieu Hanh and Scholar Phung Khac Khoan took place after he returned from his diplomatic mission in China.
Having undergone numerous restorations and renovations, the temple still preserves its traditional architectural style and many valuable artifacts and relics such as: rock steles, stone inkstones carved during the Gia Long dynasty in 1809, horizontal plaques, couplets, etc.

In opening ceremony, Locals and tourists enjoyed unique cultural performances, folk songs, and folk dances presented by the Dong Dang commune's amateur performing arts team and artists and performers from the Bang Tuong Intangible Cultural Heritage Center, Zhuang Autonomous Region. Guangxi, China .
The festival also features many unique cultural activities such as lion dances, stalls displaying local specialties, and traditional culinary experiences, attracting a large number of locals and tourists from all over to visit and participate.

The festival contributed to strengthening community bonds, preserving and promoting the intangible cultural heritage of Dong Dang commune in particular and Lang Son province in general. At the same time, it created a joyful and enthusiastic atmosphere for people of all ethnic groups inside and outside the province at the beginning of the Spring of the Year of the Horse 2026.
