Attending the event were Mr. Nguyen Ho Hai, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, and Mr. Bui Xuan Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.

From early morning, many people brought old books and newspapers, plastic bottles, broken batteries, etc., to the stalls to exchange them for attractive gifts such as plants, shower gel, shampoo, and more.

Mr. Ha Van, a resident of District 4, happily said after exchanging old newspapers for green plants: "When I heard about this event, I immediately gathered old newspapers from my house and my neighbors to exchange for green plants to plant in front of my house for shade. I think this event is very meaningful and should be organized more often throughout the year to help people raise their awareness of preserving their living environment."

This year's Green Living Festival features 47 booths from 32 organizations, units, and businesses, showcasing many environmentally friendly products and services, OCOP products and sustainable organic agricultural products, waste treatment and recycling technologies, environmental protection projects and programs, biodiversity conservation, climate change adaptation, and circular economy models.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Natural Resources and Environment, the Green Living Festival is an event to introduce and promote environmentally friendly products, services, and technologies... to help the city's residents learn about sustainable consumption, an environmentally friendly lifestyle, and participate in environmental protection activities, thereby contributing to promoting sustainable production and consumption.

At the opening ceremony, Comrade Nguyen Ho Hai and Comrade Bui Xuan Cuong presented the 4th Ho Chi Minh City Environmental Award to 8 individuals and 20 collectives; and awarded prizes to 30 outstanding projects of the Competition for Building Clean, Green, and Environmentally Friendly Buildings in Residential Areas.

Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Bui Xuan Cuong stated that the city always prioritizes building a clean, green, and environmentally friendly Ho Chi Minh City, in conjunction with the implementation of the Environmental Pollution Reduction Program for the period 2020-2030 and Directive No. 19 of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee on the campaign to encourage city residents not to litter on the streets and canals for a clean city and reduced flooding.

To date, the city has 1,920 green, clean, and environmentally friendly sites and projects; 516 neighborhoods have been recognized as clean and beautiful residential areas. To achieve better results in environmental protection in the future, the city calls on every citizen and every business to continue working together to maintain environmental hygiene and combat pollution from plastic waste through specific and practical solutions and initiatives in daily life and in the production and business activities of their respective units.

Comrade Bui Xuan Cuong expressed his hope that today's Green Living Day, as well as other activities in response to the Month of Action for the Environment in localities and units throughout the city, will spread widely. These practical actions to protect the environment, promote sustainable production and consumption, and foster an environmentally friendly lifestyle in the community will contribute to building a clean, green, and environmentally friendly city.
