On the afternoon of April 25th, at the Intercultural Meeting Point - Song Huong Ceramic Museum, Branch 2 (Phu Xuan Ward, Hue City), the joint art exhibition by two artists, Vu Hoa and My Dung, with the theme "Encoding Time," officially opened.
Participating in the exhibition, artist Vu Hoa brings more than 20 works rich in international experience, reflecting a cross-border creative journey with diverse experiments in materials and styles, from realism to abstraction.
In particular, he explored lacquer as a medium in a contemporary spirit, contributing to expanding the expressive range of traditional painting.
Meanwhile, artist My Dung impressed with his portrait painting project "Encoding Time," comprising 30 works recreating portraits of historical figures and aspects of social life from the past.
Through meticulous creative work on canvas, the artist "resurrects" the faces, sounds, and customs of Vietnam from the 19th to the early 20th centuries.
There, viewers can encounter the majesty of a king, the serenity of a wise man, the tranquil rhythm of an ancient orchestra…
These works go beyond simply reproducing images; they also convey the "spirit"—the tangible, emotional aspect that machines cannot reach.
The exhibition is a special artistic encounter between two artists from two different generations, two different creative journeys, yet sharing a common point: a love of art and a desire to dialogue with time. The collaboration of these two artists has created a highlight for the exhibition.
Alongside the inner world and global experiences lies the depth of history and national identity. Through this, the exhibition opens up many multifaceted perspectives on contemporary Vietnamese art, while affirming the role of art in connecting people with history and with themselves.
At the opening ceremony, Dr. Phan Thanh Hai, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Hue City, emphasized that the locality is a heritage city with a rich history and culture.
However, heritage only truly "lives" when placed within the flow of contemporary creativity. An exhibition is not simply a display, but a space for artistic dialogue between the past and the present, between tradition and modernity.
Events like exhibitions are of practical significance in enriching cultural life, expanding creative spaces, and enhancing interaction between art and the public.
This is also a concrete activity that contributes to realizing the vision of building Hue into a heritage city that develops in a green, smart, and sustainable direction, in which culture plays a fundamental and driving role in development.
The exhibition is open to the public and visitors free of charge until May 10th.
