To commemorate the 63rd anniversary of the sister city relationship between Thanh Hoa City and Hoi An City, on the evening of April 26th at Hoi An Park, Thanh Hoa City held the opening ceremony of the "Thanh Hoa City - Hoi An City Cultural Week" 2024 with the theme "Deep Affection, Unwavering Loyalty and Affection".

In his opening speech, Vice Chairman of the Thanh Hoa City People's Committee Nguyen Viet Hung emphasized that for the past 63 years, since establishing their sister city relationship, whether amidst the flames of war or in peacetime , the special bond and affection between Thanh Hoa and Hoi An have always been preserved and nurtured by generations of leaders and people of both cities. This remains a source of pride and an invaluable spiritual asset for the Party committees, governments, and people of both localities.

To commemorate the sister city relationship between Thanh Hoa and Hoi An, and to educate officials, Party members, and the people of both cities about their valuable traditions, the two cities have invested in the construction of projects named after Thanh Hoa in Hoi An and projects named after Hoi An in Thanh Hoa.

In Thanh Hoa City, there is Hoi An Park, a replica of the Japanese Bridge, a replica of Hoi An's old town, and a relief pillar in Thanh Ha pottery village... In Hoi An City, there is the Thanh Hoa Library, Nguyen Duy Hieu Secondary School, Tan An Kindergarten, and a memorial stele at the Martyrs' Cemetery... These structures have become characteristic symbols of the solidarity, close ties, and unwavering loyalty between the Party committees, governments, and people of the two cities.

In addition, the two localities also organize annual meetings, exchanges of experience, and cooperation in socio-economic development, especially tourism development; and activities expressing gratitude to war heroes and martyrs.

Hoi An City, a World Heritage Site, is one of the world's ten most attractive destinations, boasting a multi-layered and diverse cultural depth. Thanh Hoa City, with its 220-year history, is the provincial capital and the citadel of Thanh Hoa, home to 98 cultural and historical relics, including 25 national-level relics, creating a Thanh Hoa region rich in national identity. Therefore, the "Thanh Hoa City - Hoi An City Cultural Week" is organized to further spread the cultural values ​​of both cities. This is also an opportunity for the Party Committee, government, and people of both cities to together review their cultural and historical traditions and confidently move forward towards the future.

The program featured a medley of folk songs from the three regions of Vietnam, including "Bai Choi" singing, "Cheo Chai" singing, and dance performances such as "Glorious Thanh Hoa," "Hoi An Love Song," "Praise to the Fatherland," and "Ngu Tro Vien Khe"...

The program was jointly performed by performing arts teams from the following units: Thanh Hoa City Cultural, Information, Sports and Tourism Center, City Children's Cultural House, Traditional Musical Instruments Club, Quang Thang Ward Drum Club, Thieu Hoa District Art Troupe, and Dong Son District Art Troupe.

The "Thanh Hoa City - Hoi An City Cultural Week" in 2024 will take place from April 26th to May 1st with many rich and attractive cultural and sports activities such as: the art programs "Youthful Vitality," "Exciting Summer," and "Weekend Rendezvous"; a chess competition for primary and secondary school students; a painting competition "I Love My Homeland" for primary school students; chess exchanges, traditional martial arts performances, sports dance exchanges, and Aedance performances...

During the "Thanh Hoa City - Hoi An City Cultural Week," a culinary festival themed "Flavors of Thanh Hoa" will be held to introduce, display, and showcase the preparation of specialty dishes and typical products characteristic of various units and localities within the province.

In addition, the exhibition will feature Dong Son cultural artifacts and commemorative items related to the Thanh Hoa - Quang Nam sister city relationship; a display of paintings and photographs about the history of Thanh Hoa province from prehistoric times to the present; and a display of photographs of historical sites and scenic spots in Thanh Hoa City and Hoi An City.
