Policies that "shape" the tourism industry
Prior to the merger, the former Binh Phuoc and Dong Nai provinces were considered to have great potential for tourism development, but this potential had not been exploited to its full extent. With the desire to develop tourism, both localities have made important policy decisions for the local tourism industry.
Specifically, at the end of 2021, the former Executive Committee of the Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee issued Resolution 04-NQ/TU (Resolution 04) on developing tourism into an important economic sector of the province. Resolution 04 became the driving force for the entire political system to participate in implementing solutions to promote local tourism development.
With its advantages in forests, waterfalls, mountains, lakes, and rivers, along with impressive results in the new rural development program, the former Dong Nai province has gradually developed eco-tourism products that explore nature, culture, and the strengths of each locality, in accordance with Resolution 04. The province has mobilized many resources to invest in tourism to create a breakthrough, developing high-quality, high-class tourism with a focus on key areas; prioritizing the development of three types of tourism: eco-tourism, agricultural and rural tourism, and heritage and spiritual tourism to create a brand for Dong Nai tourism. Simultaneously, Dong Nai also focuses on developing both domestic and international tourism; creating favorable conditions for people and tourists from both inside and outside the country to visit, learn about, and explore the scenic spots and culture of Dong Nai.
In the former Binh Phuoc province, the Binh Phuoc Provincial Tourism Development Plan for the period 2021-2025, with a vision to 2030 (Tourism Development Plan) was also issued based on the advantages of forest ecotourism, cultural and historical relics, etc.
Accordingly, the former Binh Phuoc province has a strategic geographical location, with convenient transportation routes and plays an important role; it is a gateway connecting and facilitating economic, cultural, and social exchange between the Southeast region and the Central Highlands, as well as Cambodia, Laos, and Thailand. Its geographical location, natural characteristics, climate, soil, and historical and cultural traditions have created a relatively diverse and rich source of tourism resources.
Creating a unique identity for Dong Nai tourism.
With a well-planned tourism development strategy, in recent years, Dong Nai province has developed tourism products that reflect the unique nature, culture, and people of Dong Nai, such as: eco-tourism products exploring forests in communes like Bu Gia Map, Nam Cat Tien, and Dinh Quan; heritage and spiritual tourism products in communes like Loc Ninh, Loc Thanh, Tri An, and Nhon Trach; and agricultural and rural tourism models in wards and communes like Binh Loc, Tan Trieu, Xuan Bac, and Bu Gia Map.
Ms. Nguyen Tran Thao Van, from Tan Thoi Hiep ward, Ho Chi Minh City, has visited many tourist attractions in Dong Nai whenever she has the opportunity to visit family and friends in Bien Hoa ward. Among the destinations in Dong Nai, she is particularly impressed with Cat Tien National Park, Binh Loc Fruit Garden, and Tri An Lake… According to Ms. Van, these are beautiful landscapes and attractions rarely found elsewhere.
To create more world-class tourism products, Dong Nai province is accelerating the review, planning, and investment attraction of locations with great potential for tourism and integrated trade development into the Dong Nai Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050. This will serve as a basis for attracting and selecting investors, ensuring transparency, projects, and the best ideas to effectively exploit the tourism potential and advantages when Long Thanh Airport comes into operation.
According to Le Thi Ngoc Loan, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dong Nai province: The Department is actively advising the Provincial People's Committee and strengthening propaganda and mobilization efforts among potential tourist destinations and households to develop unique tourism products, aiming to diversify the local tourism offerings.
The province is focusing on developing several key tourism products based on its advantages, including: eco-tourism and resort tourism, cultural and spiritual tourism, and agricultural and rural tourism; while also emphasizing the development of supporting tourism products, including culinary tourism, health and wellness tourism, and shopping tourism.
Dong Nai is one of the gateways to the major tourist center of Ho Chi Minh City, one of the leading growth poles of tourism in Vietnam. Over the past time, Dong Nai has made great efforts in promoting and developing tourism products, fostering its growth to become one of the important economic sectors of the locality.
Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh, Director General of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration
Dong Nai tourism is ready to take off.
During the period 2025-2030, Dong Nai province will implement a comprehensive set of solutions to realize two driving forces: industrial development, with the core focus on attracting strategic, new-generation investors, filling existing industrial parks, and continuing to attract investment to potential industrial parks, prioritizing high-tech industries, green industries, and supporting industries; and service development, with the Long Thanh Airport Integrated Service City as its core, including a free trade zone and an ecosystem of aviation, logistics, trade, and tourism services.
In the coming period, Dong Nai will actively promote the development of culture, sports, and tourism to match its economic development. It will build and comprehensively develop an advanced Vietnamese culture, rich in national identity, and cultivate well-rounded, friendly, compassionate, dynamic, creative, and integrated Dong Nai people; imbued with patriotic and humanistic traditions, strongly fostering love for family, homeland, and country; and enhancing self-reliance, self-improvement, and the aspiration for prosperous, democratic, civilized, and happy development.
Dong Nai province has identified the development of cultural industries, the development of high-quality cultural, sports, and tourism products and services, linked with strengthening cooperation and linkages with provinces in the region, neighboring countries, and other nations to expand cultural exchange, artistic exchange, and promote the image, land, people, and culture of Dong Nai to the international community. It proactively coordinates and promotes cultural diplomacy activities. At the same time, it utilizes technology to promote Dong Nai's cultural products to increase accessibility for both domestic and international tourists.
Develop cultural tourism linked to experiential activities. Promote cooperation in developing inter-regional tourism routes, tourism associated with cultural heritage and historical relics; utilize forest, river, lake, and mountain resources to develop various types of tourism, effectively exploiting rural tourism with historical elements and local cultural experiences. Build and perfect a smart tourism ecosystem linked to the digital transformation of the tourism industry...
Speaking at a working session with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dong Nai province on July 18, 2025, Mr. Le Truong Son, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, requested that the sector focus on digital transformation in the field of tourism and promoting Dong Nai's destinations. In addition, a roadmap is needed to upgrade, restore, preserve, and digitize artifacts at historical sites to conserve and promote the values of historical sites and scenic spots in the province, ensuring the fulfillment of tasks while contributing to diversity and attracting tourists to Dong Nai.
