Recently, the People's Committee of Khanh Son commune organized the first "Raglai Colors" program at Hon Dung Community Tourism Village, featuring a series of cultural, artistic, and culinary exchange activities showcasing the rich traditional culture of the Raglai people. The event aims to attract tourists to the village and gradually build a distinctive community tourism brand for the locality.
Developing community tourism
Khanh Son commune is a land rich in tradition, preserving many unique cultural values of the Raglai ethnic group. These cultural values are embodied in the sounds of the ma la (a type of gong), stone xylophones, folk songs and dances, customs, handicrafts, and diverse cuisine.

In particular, Hon Dung village has a large concentration of Raglai people, home to traditional longhouses – spaces that preserve the cultural beauty of the Raglai people with traditional activities such as: the funeral ceremony, the first rice harvest ceremony, the life cycle ceremony, the thanksgiving ceremony; cultural activities involving gongs and drums... This place is also a cultural space that preserves and transmits various forms of folk art such as: epics, folk songs, folk dances, most commonly the Alou, Siri, Sa Nghôi, and Ru Tu songs; unique ethnic musical instruments: stone xylophones, Chapi lutes... along with traditional crafts such as: crossbow making, basket weaving, and rice wine making...
In line with the policy of developing tourism while preserving and promoting traditional cultural values, Khanh Son commune has implemented many solutions to build and develop a community tourism model in Hon Dung village, focusing on exploiting experiential tourism products that are rich in local cultural identity.
Testing the "Raglai Colors" program.
According to Ms. Mau Thi Le Thu, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Khanh Son commune, in order to develop community tourism and enrich products serving tourists at Hon Dung Community Tourism Village, the locality has established the Khanh Son Stone Instrument Performance Club; and is also aiming to establish a Raglai Epic Preservation and Promotion Club in the near future.
Specifically, this June, the locality is piloting the "Raglai Colors" program from 5 PM to 9:30 PM every Saturday. The program features performances and cultural exchanges showcasing traditional arts and culture, including the playing of gongs and stone xylophones, folk singing, and folk dancing. Visitors will also learn about the customs, traditions, festivals, and traditional costumes; and directly experience traditional crafts such as brewing rice wine, crafting musical instruments, and making handicrafts. In addition, the program offers visitors the opportunity to enjoy rice wine and traditional Raglai dishes such as sticky rice cooked in bamboo tubes, savory soup, grilled chicken, and grilled meat in bamboo tubes, as well as freely explore and shop for OCOP products, clean agricultural products, and local specialties.
Ms. Mau Thi Le Thu - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Khanh Son Commune : After the pilot program concludes, the locality will review and refine the program to regularly organize the "Raglai Colors" event to serve the people and tourists. This activity aims to create a stable community cultural space for the Raglai people to directly participate in performances and presentations, while also giving tourists the opportunity to experience and explore the unique cultural beauty of the Raglai people in Khanh Son. From there, it will not only contribute to preserving and promoting cultural values, but also create livelihoods, increase income for the people, promote economic development, and build new rural areas.
