Hateco Hai Phong International Container Port (HHIT) inaugurated.

After 30 months of concentrated resources and rapid construction, this morning (April 5th), Hateco Group officially inaugurated Hateco Hai Phong International Container Port (HHIT), finishing two months ahead of schedule, marking an important milestone in the development of Vietnam's maritime economy.

The Hateco Group's investment in Berths No. 5 and No. 6, part of the Hai Phong International Gateway Port area at Lach Huyen (Hai Phong), is the Hateco Hai Phong International Container Port (HHIT). This project is a large-scale deep-water port infrastructure development in Vietnam. Spanning nearly 73 hectares, including a 900m long main berth and a 300m long barge berth, the Hateco Hai Phong International Container Port is capable of simultaneously accommodating two of the world's largest container ships, with a deadweight tonnage of up to 200,000 DWT (18,000 TEU). Its operational capacity reaches 2.2 million TEU per year, solidifying its position as the largest and most modern deep-water port in Northern Vietnam.

The establishment of Hateco Hai Phong International Container Port, with an investment of US$450 million, will significantly contribute to the development of seaports towards smart, green, safe, and sustainable operations. With the largest yard infrastructure in the Lach Huyen area, Hateco Port focuses on investing in modern equipment and technology, including 10 STS (ship-to-shore) cranes with a reach of 24 container rows, and 36 electric e-RTG cranes, enabling fast, accurate, and energy-efficient cargo handling; meeting the demands of the modern logistics industry.

At the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong City People's Committee Nguyen Duc Tho commended the efforts of Hateco Group and Hateco Hai Phong International Container Port Co., Ltd. in bringing the project into safe operation as soon as possible. Hai Phong City always encourages and is committed to supporting and creating favorable conditions for investors to participate in the construction, operation, and exploitation of port facilities in the Lach Huyen port area. The city hopes to continue receiving attention and support from the Government and central ministries and agencies in investing in infrastructure, especially maritime and port infrastructure in the Lach Huyen and Nam Do Son areas, in accordance with Resolution 45 and Conclusion No. 96 of the Politburo.

At the inauguration ceremony, Hateco Group signed a memorandum of understanding with APM Terminals to establish a strategic cooperation relationship in the port and logistics sector of Vietnam (pictured above).

Robert Uggla, Chairman of Maersk, the parent company of APM Terminals, affirmed: “With advanced technology, sustainable design, and the ability to serve the largest vessels at sea, Hateco Hai Phong International Container Port will position Hai Phong and Vietnam as an important hub in global trade.”

Ambassador Nicolai Prytz of Denmark also emphasized that Hateco Hai Phong International Container Port is a strong example of cooperation and innovation in the effort to build an optimally efficient seaport; making an important contribution to Vietnam's green transformation goals.
