New Phong Chau Bridge inaugurated.

On the morning of September 28th, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the inauguration ceremony of the new Phong Chau Bridge on National Highway 32C in Phu Tho province.

At the ceremony, the Prime Minister and delegates observed a minute of silence to commemorate the people who lost their lives in the collapse of the old Phong Chau bridge exactly one year ago. The Prime Minister recalled that the collapse of the old Phong Chau bridge, caused by the historical Yagi influence, left behind heavy losses of life and property; seriously affected the lives of people on both sides of the Red River; and significantly impacted the economy, trade, commerce, and production of the region. Immediately after the incident, General Secretary To Lam inspected and directed the remediation efforts; the Government, the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Construction , the Ministry of National Defense, and relevant ministries and agencies provided close guidance and immediately began addressing the incident. The Provincial Party Committee, the People's Committee of Phu Tho province, and local authorities closely coordinated to implement the construction, and today the new Phong Chau bridge is inaugurated.

Deeply moved by the tears of faith, hope, and pride of the people today, instead of the tears of pain exactly one year ago, the Prime Minister stated that the new Phong Chau Bridge is a bridge connecting the people with the Party and the State; connecting people with each other; connecting the people with the heroic Vietnamese Army; healing wounds and rekindling faith and happiness; and closely linking ministries, agencies, localities, and the people.

The Prime Minister warmly commended and highly appreciated the sense of responsibility and prompt action in directing, managing, and organizing the implementation of the project by the Ministry of Transport (now the Ministry of Construction); the effective coordination and close cooperation of the Ministry of National Defense, the Provincial Party Committee and People's Committee of Phu Tho province, relevant ministries and agencies, and the design and supervision consulting units during the project's implementation. The Prime Minister acknowledged and praised the efforts of the officers and soldiers of the 249th Engineering Brigade - Engineering Corps, who overcame all difficulties and hardships to deploy the pontoon bridge, ensuring traffic flow for the people throughout the past year.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh particularly commended and praised the officers and soldiers of Brigade 12 - Truong Son Construction Corporation for upholding the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers and the heroic traditions of the Truong Son army, overcoming many difficulties and challenges, working day and night, so that today, the Phong Chau bridge is inaugurated as committed, amidst the joy and happiness of the people; he also thanked the local people - those who have accompanied, shared, and encouraged the construction forces.

The Phong Chau Bridge construction project on National Highway 32C in Phu Tho province was invested under an emergency construction order following the collapse of the old Phong Chau Bridge on September 9, 2024. The project has a total investment of VND 635.392 billion, funded by the central government budget, with the Thang Long Project Management Board as the investor. The contractor is Truong Son Construction Corporation. Construction of the new Phong Chau Bridge commenced on December 21, 2024.

The new Phong Chau Bridge and its approach roads are approximately 652 meters long (the bridge itself is 383 meters), 20.5 meters wide with 4 lanes for motor vehicles, located on National Highway 32C, crossing the Red River in Phu Tho province. The bridge's starting point is in Phung Nguyen commune and its end point is in Van Xuan commune. The project was invested in to promptly address the collapse of the old Phong Chau Bridge on National Highway 32C, ensuring the urgent and rapid resolution of traffic disruptions and mitigating the consequences of storms and floods; quickly connecting the transportation network in the area, creating favorable conditions for people's travel, supporting socio-economic development, and ensuring national defense and security in the region.
