The economic models implemented by ethnic minority women are diverse and abundant, ranging from farming, livestock breeding, processing, and aquaculture to various business ventures. A notable feature is the emphasis on household autonomy, where women clearly demonstrate their role and position, from changing perceptions in their approach to proactively encouraging their husbands, children, and family members to invest capital and boldly apply science, technology, and information technology in economic development activities. Their determination, willingness to think outside the box, take action, and face failure are also highly commendable qualities.
In Ba Chẽ, where 80% of the population are ethnic minorities, mobilizing and supporting women's economic development and sustainable poverty reduction is one of the key tasks of women's associations at all levels. To improve the lives of women throughout the district, the Ba Chẽ District Women's Union has implemented the transfer of scientific and technological knowledge, provided preferential capital, and especially mobilized and supported members and women in implementing economic models associated with the development of OCOP products. This not only creates opportunities for women to rise out of poverty but also contributes to building and affirming the brand of local products. In addition, the District Women's Union always listens to and facilitates the legitimate needs of its members in production and business.
Ms. Lan Thi Thu, President of the Women's Union of Ba Che District: With the encouragement of the Women's Union at all levels, ethnic minority women are very bold in engaging in economic activities. From small-scale to large-scale models, women are eager to learn about techniques and experiences in farming and raising livestock, and confidently borrow capital to start businesses.
Based on closely following the province's key economic programs, women's associations at all levels in the province have mobilized cadres, members, and women to build economic development models, focusing on building effective economic models to disseminate and replicate in ethnic minority women's families. Through savings and loan groups, many women have boldly taken up economic activities and risen out of poverty.
Ms. Ly Thi Mai from Hai Lang commune (Tien Yen district) shared: "Previously, we only raised a few hundred chickens, but with the support of loans from the Social Policy Bank, facilitated by the Women's Union of the commune, my family has expanded our flock to 1,000 chickens."
Continuing the implementation of Project 8 on “Implementing gender equality and addressing urgent issues for women and children,” in 2024, the Women's Union branches in the province actively carried out activities to support women's economic development, mainly focusing on implementing entrusted loan programs, creating conditions for women members in need of loans to create jobs. From the beginning of 2025 to the present, the Women's Union at all levels has coordinated the disbursement of entrusted loans through the Social Policy Bank totaling over 142 billion VND to 1,781 borrowers. Recognizing the vocational training needs of women members, the Women's Union branches at all levels also coordinated with specialized agencies to organize many training courses, vocational training, transfer of scientific and technical knowledge in livestock farming and crop cultivation, and job placement services.
It is evident that the economic development of women in Quang Ninh today is not only the result of individual efforts but also the close support of the Women's Union at all levels. From providing loan support, vocational training, technology transfer, to connecting with markets and building product brands, the Women's Union at all levels has become a solid foundation, helping women confidently start businesses, develop their economy, and increase their income.
