The Van Linh Chicken Farming Cooperative is one of the leading units in applying science and technology to production. Mr. Mai Van Phan, Director of the Cooperative, said: Previously, the Cooperative mainly raised chickens using the free-range method, which was not very efficient and posed many risks of disease outbreaks. Since 2022, when a project researching and applying science and technology to restore and sustainably develop Van Linh chicken products, led by the Department of Science and Technology of Lang Son province, was launched, the Cooperative has invested in modernizing its barns, installing ventilation systems, putting incubators into use, and applying biological bedding...
Currently, the cooperative maintains a scale of approximately 2,000 chickens. Besides Van Linh chickens, the cooperative also develops Van Linh eggs, which have been recognized as meeting OCOP 3-star standards, contributing to enhancing the value and affirming the brand of the local product.
Following the same path, Mr. Luong Van Tre from Na Ten village boldly invested in an egg incubation system and focused on applying biological bedding in poultry farming. He shared: "Since participating in the research and application project of science and technology to restore and sustainably develop Van Linh chicken products, I have been guided in selecting and building a 'core' flock. Previously, my family had to buy chicks from outside, which was expensive and of inconsistent quality. Now, thanks to my self-sufficiency in chicks, the hatching rate is over 95%. Not only do I use them for my family's farming, but I also supply chicks to other households."
Ms. Vi Thi Thu Ha, Deputy Head of the Economic Department of Van Linh Commune, said: "We have identified 'Van Linh Golden Chicken' as one of our key products. With the attention of the province and relevant departments, we have organized training courses, implemented research projects on gene conservation, transferred technology, and encouraged people to apply science and technology to production. In the past, some models in the locality have shown clear effectiveness. In the future, we will continue to promote awareness, support people in accessing preferential capital sources, and replicate effective models."
Thanks to the application of science and technology in poultry farming, the quality of Van Linh chickens is constantly improving. The products are purchased directly by traders and some restaurants, with the price of commercial chickens ranging from 150,000 to 200,000 VND/kg, providing a considerable income for the people. In addition, the price of chicks currently fluctuates around 15,000 VND/chick, creating favorable conditions for people to replenish their flocks, maintain, and expand production scale.
The application of science and technology not only helps people in Van Linh commune increase their income but also contributes to building a modern agricultural sector. With a renewed production mindset, along with the support of the government and specialized agencies, chicken farming here promises to become an effective and sustainable long-term economic development direction.
