Portrait of Khoai Lang Thang |
On December 2nd, YouTuber Khoai Lang Thang officially spoke out after a TikToker called him a male version of a "black rose." This person claimed that he "only creates a friendly impression in front of the camera," but in real life he is "not at all approachable," "acts friendly," and "has a closed-off inner self."
Khoai acknowledged that the most accurate point in the comment was that he rarely shares his sadness or feelings, unless the person is truly special.
"From a young age, Khoai lived independently, afraid that his unpleasant experiences would bother others," he said, adding that all assessments of personality can be right or wrong to a certain extent. Sometimes he doesn't even fully understand himself.
Regarding the corrective comment under the video , Khoai stated that he wanted to clarify an inaccurate detail. The person in the video said that he "builds a 100% innocent image online," but according to Khoai, this is not true.
"Online, Khoai can be quite aggressive sometimes. He often comments randomly, and many of his comments are outrageous, argumentative, and selfish in order to protect himself, not always as gentle as you've analyzed," he said.
According to the travel blogger, the TikToker also gave many compliments, but some of her words were "a bit sensitive" and could easily be misinterpreted. After the incident went viral, she proactively messaged her, and the two exchanged messages to clarify the situation.
At the end of his post, Khoai thanked those who had encouraged him over the past two days. "Last night, lying awake thinking, Khoai realized how lucky and happy he is in life. Thank you so much," he wrote.

Previously, this TikTok account posted a video discussing the topic of "male versions of black roses," citing Khoai Lang Thang as a prime example.
She explained that the "black rose" group in anthropology consists of people whose EQ (emotional intelligence) is superior to their IQ (intelligence), "deep enough to empathize, stable enough not to be swept away by other people's emotions," and whose IQ is "just right for independent thinking and strategic work."
She observed that content creators like Khoai "always have to appear cheerful," but when you get to know them up close, they "are not the approachable type," and "always keep their inner feelings to themselves."
This comment sparked controversy, with many of Khoai's followers refuting it, arguing that the video lacked basis because in his videos he always expresses genuine emotions.
Following a series of comments and discussions, Khoai responded directly under the video. He said he "doesn't mind debating" when misinformation could affect his family or friends.
"Throughout my 9 years of creating content, I understand that sometimes, remaining silent about small things can have unexpected consequences and misunderstandings," he wrote.
Later, the video uploader explained that they were praising Khoai's positive energy and talent, not intending to attack him. However, most viewers felt that the analysis was subjective and easily misinterpreted, causing the video to continue receiving mixed reactions.
