The Party Committee of Vietnam Foreign Trade Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Vietcombank) is organizing the first ever "Golden Hammer and Sickle Award" competition for the Vietcombank Party Committee in 2024. This is not only an opportunity for cadres, Party members, and employees to demonstrate their dedication and capabilities in protecting and promoting the core values ​​of the Party; refuting erroneous and hostile viewpoints to build a clean and strong Party, but also a broad political activity aimed at celebrating the Party Congresses at all levels for the 2025-2030 term.

Throughout its more than 95-year history of leading the country, the Communist Party of Vietnam has always considered Party building and rectification as a key task, ensuring the Party's leading role in the revolutionary cause.

With its mission of accompanying the Party, the revolutionary press of Vietnam continuously plays a pioneering role on the ideological and cultural front, actively propagating and promoting achievements in Party building; at the same time, resolutely fighting against manifestations of degradation and negativity, making a significant contribution to protecting the Party's ideological foundation.

The National Press Award on Party Building (Golden Hammer and Sickle Award) was established to honor outstanding journalistic works and individuals and collectives who are active and responsible in contributing to the strong dissemination of the spirit of innovation and improving the quality and effectiveness of Party building work. The award has also been continuously invested in, innovated, and developed, attracting increasing attention and participation from professional and amateur journalists, becoming a vibrant journalistic forum that contributes to raising the awareness of the entire society about Party building work.

With the aim of improving the quality and effectiveness of disseminating, publicizing, and implementing the Party's guidelines, viewpoints, and policies, and the State's laws and regulations, creating unity in awareness and action among cadres, Party members, and employees throughout the system, the Vietcombank Party Committee's Golden Hammer and Sickle Award Competition 2024 was organized.

From the moment it was launched, the competition attracted significant interest from units throughout the entire system. Units within the Vietcombank Party Committee submitted a total of 385 entries, of which 223 were selected for the preliminary round and 63 outstanding entries advanced to the final round.

The most significant impact of the entries in this year's competition is the reflection of Party building practices from a theoretical perspective; based on this, the Party's policies, guidelines, and directives are concretized into practical actions, creating a motivating and encouraging effect throughout the system to strive to excellently fulfill political tasks and Party building work, leading up to the Party Congresses at all levels for the 2025-2030 term.

The entries submitted to the competition demonstrated a serious spirit, showcasing efforts in theoretical research and effective practical application, reflecting the identity and core values ​​of Vietcombank in its journey of sustainable development, closely adhering to the Party's directives and the State's policies. Some entries combined data journalism and infographics to make them more lively and relatable; others incorporated in-depth interviews and practical surveys to provide objective assessments and well-founded, more persuasive arguments.

The Vietcombank Party Committee's Golden Hammer and Sickle Award has stimulated creative thinking in the work of building and protecting the Party's ideological foundation in the coming period. According to Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung, member of the Board of Directors, Head of the Propaganda Department of the Vietcombank Party Committee, and Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of the 2024 Golden Hammer and Sickle Award, in the next season, there are several key thematic groups that authors and groups of authors can continue to research and develop.

Emphasizing the importance of protecting the Party's ideological foundation and combating false narratives and harmful information on the internet, especially issues related to economics, financial policy, and macroeconomics, Mr. Hung suggested that authors explore topical issues such as financial security, economic security, and the responsibility of Party members and bank officials in disseminating official information and guiding public opinion in the context of the social media boom.

Referring to Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, dated December 22, 2024, of the Politburo on breakthroughs in the development of science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation, Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung emphasized that this is a particularly important content for businesses, especially in the finance and banking sector, where digital technology is profoundly changing operating methods.

Accordingly, entries in the next season may focus on the application of digital transformation in Party building; innovation in propaganda work, improving the effectiveness of inspection and supervision; and in-depth analysis of Vietcombank's pioneering role in digital finance and digital banking initiatives in accordance with the Party and State's policies.

Given its role and position as a leading commercial bank, Vietcombank needs to continue to promote the development of digital infrastructure, build a high-quality workforce, and strongly promote scientific research and technology application. Exploring this topic will demonstrate a strategic vision for Party building within the enterprise.

Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung also emphasized the issue of reforming and streamlining the organizational structure of the political system to be more effective and efficient, in accordance with Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW of the 12th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam. This is a topic of particular public interest and can be explored from the perspective of models and solutions to improve leadership capacity, reflecting the close relationship between Party work and business management to ensure efficiency and avoid cumbersome and wasteful organizational structures.

Another important topic suggested by Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung is the revolutionary ethical standards for cadres and Party members according to Regulation No. 144-QD/TW; in particular, emphasizing the transparency and integrity of the banking sector, a field with many sensitive characteristics. Articles could focus on exploring ways to cultivate ethics, prevent manifestations of ideological and political degradation, moral and lifestyle decline, or the responsibility of setting a good example; enhance professional ethics for cadres and Party members; and build a team of young Party members – both as a successor force and a driving force for innovation and creativity.

Besides the core content, Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung mentioned several potential topics such as building Vietcombank's culture in line with Ho Chi Minh's ideology; promoting Vietcombank's culture; and developing well-rounded Vietcombank employees in the digital age.
