With the belief that a sustainable escape from poverty requires a change in production mindset, Thào Seo Lìn proactively researched, learned, and decided to convert 3 hectares of land previously used for growing corn to planting Tai Nung pears (VH6 pears) - a temperate fruit tree suitable for the local climate.

In 2018, Mr. Lin and his family started growing pears. After more than three years of care, his pear orchard yielded its first harvest, producing nearly 3 tons. Not content with simply producing pears, he boldly developed a model for growing and caring for pears organically, linking it with community tourism development, gradually increasing the value of the product and creating a new direction for local agriculture .
Thanks to the National Target Program for Socio -Economic Development of Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Regions for the period 2021-2025, in 2022, he received 210 million VND in support to build a brand, create packaging, labels, and QR codes for tracing the origin of his Tai Nung pears. This was a crucial turning point that helped his family's product gain market acceptance, with stable selling prices ranging from 40,000 to 60,000 VND/kg. In the first three years, the model achieved an average yield of 4-5 tons, generating revenue of 200-300 million VND/year; and a profit of 100-150 million VND/year. Given the nature of being a perennial fruit tree with a harvesting cycle of 30-40 years, the yield and economic efficiency of the model are projected to continue increasing in the coming years, providing a stable and sustainable source of income.

Not only has Thào Seo Lìn's model enriched his family, but it has also created regular jobs for 4-6 young people in the village and 20-30 seasonal workers each year, contributing to job creation, increasing people's income, and reducing the number of young people leaving their hometowns to work elsewhere.
Based on his practical experience, he actively encouraged and guided union members, young people, and local residents to boldly transform their crop structure, shifting from inefficient corn and rice cultivation to Tai Nung pear and tea cultivation. To date, the entire Pha Long commune has expanded the area of pear cultivation to over 100 hectares, forming a concentrated production area, creating a foundation for production and product consumption linkages, and contributing to the goal of sustainable poverty reduction.
Alongside economic development, Thào Seo Lìn has always been an exemplary and pioneering member of the Youth Union, associations, and local communities. With his youthful energy and sense of responsibility, he actively participates in campaigns such as: "Youth Month," "March Border Month," "Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign," "Winter Volunteer Campaign," etc.

Thanks to these efforts, Mr. Thào Seo Lìn has been recognized by various levels and sectors with numerous awards and commendations. In particular, in 2025, Mr. Lìn was honored with a Certificate of Merit from the Provincial People's Committee for his outstanding achievements in the emulation movement to implement the National Target Program for socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas during the 2021-2025 period. This is not only a well-deserved reward for him personally, but also an affirmation of the correct direction of the agricultural economic model linked with community tourism in the highlands.
Also in 2025, Thào Seo Lìn was honored by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union as an exemplary young person, a reputable figure, and a successful entrepreneurial role model in ethnic minority and mountainous regions in 2025.

Lin shared: “I was born and raised in difficult circumstances, so I understand the poverty and the obstacles that young people in mountainous areas face. These awards and recognitions are a great motivation for me to continue striving, accompanying the people and youth in my village and commune on the path to economic development and sustainable poverty alleviation.”
According to Mr. Lin, starting a business in ethnic minority and mountainous areas is not easy due to the low starting point, lack of capital, lack of scientific and technical knowledge, and even a lack of self-confidence. However, if one knows how to take advantage of the land and climate, dares to change production thinking, boldly applies technological advancements, and persistently pursues goals, it is entirely possible to create high-value agricultural products.
"I hope that more and more young people from ethnic minorities will dare to dream, dare to start businesses, and not resign themselves to poverty," Lin confided.
From the rocky, barren land of the border region, with willpower, determination, and a daring spirit, Thào Seo Lìn has written an inspiring entrepreneurial story. He has not only enriched himself but also spread the aspiration for progress, igniting faith in a prosperous and sustainable future for the people in the highlands and border areas today.
