Community-based tourism model in the Dao ethnic minority village of Ben Than.
Lai Dong, with its predominantly agricultural land, has a unique cultural tradition stemming from its large ethnic minority population, along with abundant hilly and forested land. Therefore, agriculture is considered a top priority by the local Party committee, government, and people, with resources allocated to its development based on a shift in crop and livestock production towards higher-value commodities and improved economic efficiency.
Last year, the commune completed rice cultivation on over 1,125 hectares. Despite unfavorable weather conditions, thanks to the application of scientific and technical advancements, rice yields reached 52 quintals/hectare, with a total production of over 5,751 tons. In addition, over 100 hectares of corn yielded 441 tons, and intercropped vegetables not only ensured food security but also provided by-products for livestock farming. Currently, the commune has a total herd of nearly 4,000 buffaloes and cows, nearly 3,000 pigs, nearly 80,000 poultry, and over 126 hectares of aquaculture...

Along with agriculture, small-scale industrial production, trade, and services are also being developed with production models based on the local strengths such as: wood processing, carpentry, civil engineering, transportation and construction services, and products serving community tourism...
