From the very beginning of the year, departments, agencies, and localities throughout the province have closely followed practical realities and implemented tasks in a synchronized and proactive manner. The province has promptly concretized Government Resolution No. 01, Provincial Party Committee Resolution No. 05, and Provincial People's Council Resolution No. 318 into practical action programs with specific and clear goals and targets. As a result, the province's socio -economic development in January 2026 has continued to make new strides.
Specifically, in the first month of 2026, the industrial production index in the province reached 21.81% of the plan. The manufacturing industry continued to play a leading role, achieving a breakthrough growth rate of 37.31%. Alongside this, the province's export turnover reached 360 million USD, an increase of 22%, while import turnover also showed stable growth at 17%. The trade and service sector also recorded breakthroughs, with total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue increasing by 17.6%, reflecting strong purchasing power and people's confidence in market stability.
In particular, Quang Ninh's tourism industry welcomed over 1.6 million visitors, a 28% increase compared to the same period last year. Ha Long Bay, a World Natural Heritage site, continued to affirm its role as the "leading force" attracting tourists, especially international visitors, to Quang Ninh. With its unique natural landscape, outstanding geological and geomorphological values, and rich ecosystem, Ha Long Bay has welcomed approximately 130,000 visitors since the beginning of the year, including about 120,000 international tourists. Overnight cruise ship occupancy reached approximately 50-60%. During the New Year's holiday alone, over 5 days (December 31, 2025 - January 4, 2026), approximately 70,500 international visitors arrived in Quang Ninh. Besides the strong recovery of traditional markets such as China, South Korea, and Japan, the market for visitors from Europe, North America, and Australia continued to grow strongly with longer stays and higher spending levels. This further affirms Quang Ninh's position as a leading tourist destination in the country and the region.
Alongside socio-economic development, the province has always prioritized ensuring social welfare, maintaining national defense and security, and ensuring social order and safety. In January 2026, social order remained stable, and efforts to combat smuggling and trade fraud were effective. This created a favorable environment for people and businesses to confidently engage in production, business, and celebrate the Lunar New Year.
In the atmosphere of preparing for the Lunar New Year of the Horse, the province has paid special attention to social welfare work. The political system from the provincial to the grassroots level has promptly and effectively implemented activities to care for policy beneficiaries and people in difficult circumstances with the motto "no one should be left behind, no one should be without a New Year celebration," creating a joyful and enthusiastic atmosphere and strengthening the people's confidence.
These positive results have laid an important foundation for Quang Ninh to maintain its growth momentum and successfully achieve its strategic goals for the entire year.
