In May and June, during the Buddha's Birthday season, Hue attracts tourists with its vibrant Buddhist flags, lotus flowers on the Perfume River, and a series of cultural activities taking place throughout the city center.

In mid-May, the streets of Hue begin to change their usual scenery. Colorful Buddhist flags are hung along the banks of the Perfume River, around Truong Tien Bridge, and many temples in the city. In the evening, the city center is adorned with decorative lights and miniature landscapes. This is a sign of the Buddha's Birthday or Vesak Festival – the most important Buddhist festival commemorating the birth of Siddhartha Gautama, the Buddha.

According to the Hue City Electronic Information Portal, this year's Buddha's Birthday celebration takes place from May 21st to June 7th. During this time, the city will host many activities such as launching and arranging seven lotus flowers on the Perfume River, a vegetarian food festival on Nguyen Dinh Chieu pedestrian street, a Buddhist cultural exhibition at the Lieu Quan Center, and a flower float parade…

On the morning of May 21st, seven lotus flower sculptures were launched onto the Perfume River. The area around Truong Tien Bridge and the riverside park attracted a large crowd of locals and tourists who came to take photos and videos.

On social media, numerous images and videos depicting Buddhist flags covering central streets or lotus flowers on the Perfume River have attracted significant interaction. Many tourists have stated that they chose to visit Hue during this time to experience the festive atmosphere and explore the city.

Recently, Hue has consistently become a trending destination on social media. On the first day of the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day holiday (April 24-28), images of crowds flocking to the Hue Imperial Citadel topped the search rankings on Socialite – a system for measuring and ranking prominent events on social media. The holiday recorded over 300,000 discussions, with phrases like "half of Vietnam in Hue" or "escaping the world to Hue, only to meet the whole world there" appearing on TikTok, Facebook, and Threads.

During the Hung Kings Commemoration Day holiday, Hue welcomed approximately 395,000 visitors, with estimated tourism revenue reaching 958 billion VND. Hotel occupancy rates exceeded 90%, and on the 10th day of the 3rd lunar month, they reached approximately 99%.

During the period from April 29th to May 3rd, the total number of visitors to Hue continued to increase sharply, reaching approximately 610,000, a 73.7% increase compared to the same period last year. Of these, international visitors accounted for 164,000. Tourism revenue is estimated at 1,350 billion VND, and the average room occupancy rate reached 99%.

Notably, on April 30th and May 1st, a large number of visitors gathered at the Hue Imperial Citadel and the Nguyen Dynasty's royal tombs. On May 1st alone, revenue at the Hue Imperial Citadel complex reached over 4.2 billion VND, the highest amount ever recorded in a single day at this site.
