Replicating organic, circular models

From July 2025 to present, Lam Dong Agricultural Extension Center has accompanied farmers in practicing many new technological processes in converting crop and livestock varieties, applying organic and circular farming methods to adapt to climate change, biosafety livestock farming, environmental protection, linking production with the consumption market according to the value chain.

Accordingly, Lam Dong Agricultural Extension Center has demonstrated models of "footprint-free fields" for rice and durian production according to VietGAP standards and equivalent, applying Huong Chau 6 pure rice intensive farming technology. The cumulative area of dragon fruit produced under VietGAP in the whole province reached 8,800 hectares. In addition, many intensive farming models in the organic direction for milk fruit, jackfruit, passion fruit, developing concentrated coffee growing material areas; converting to growing strawberries, climbing beans, new tomato varieties to improve the livelihoods of ethnic minority people; linking production and consumption of mini squash, boxer tomatoes, red-fleshed dragon fruit.

In addition, the center has also built many other effective models such as: intensive coffee cultivation adapted to climate change; growing red-flowered trees; applying new technology using agricultural by-products to dry macadamia nuts; replanting new varieties of Arabica coffee with high productivity, quality, and disease resistance; applying advanced solutions for processing vegetables, tubers, and fruits. In the livestock sector alone, Lam Dong Agricultural Extension Center has replicated significant models such as: Raising commercial Grimaud ducks for meat; raising Egyptian chickens for egg-laying in circulation with calcium worms; raising white fish in HDPE round cages at sea; raising catfish in cages combined with experiential tourism; intensive farming of tilapia in ponds; raising snakehead fish in cages. In particular, with the national agricultural extension program, typical projects implemented by Lam Dong Agricultural Extension Center include: Linking the value chain of organic tea production; producing corn for animal feed; intensive farming of macadamia according to VietGAP standards associated with consumption contracts; circular cattle farming, sheep breeding adapted to climate change.

Contribute to restructuring the agricultural sector

Notably, Lam Dong Agricultural Extension Center has coordinated with domestic scientific institutes to build and replicate models of raw potato production associated with the product consumption system of the Central Highlands provinces; exploit and develop the genetic resources of Binh Thuan grass pigs in some provinces of the South Central Coast; research on processing, preserving and using dragon fruit branches as feed for livestock in arid and saline areas in the Southern provinces. At the same time, coordinate with localities in the province to implement the target program of restructuring the agricultural sector, focusing on replicating organic and circular agricultural models, growing corn biomass as feed for cattle, raising earthworms to produce microbial fertilizers, developing new mulberry trees and silkworm varieties.

In particular, with national target programs for developing green agriculture and sustainable agriculture, the Center has coordinated to participate in agricultural extension projects supporting the application of direct sprinkler irrigation technology to the roots of durian, mango, and coffee trees; projects to improve the landscape and environment for crop cultivation associated with rural tourism development; demonstration models of agricultural production resistant to climate change...

Lam Dong Agricultural Extension Center has advised the Department of Agriculture and Environment to approve the coordination regulations with the People's Committees at the commune level in implementing agricultural extension tasks in the area. At the same time, it has strengthened training to improve the operational capacity of members of the community agricultural extension team on cooperative economic development, market expansion and digital transformation linkage in agricultural production, product traceability, thereby contributing to consulting and transferring to help Lam Dong farmers access new production technology processes, adapt to climate change, build and spread the brand of agricultural products of Lam Dong province's ecological regions in the market.
