According to confirmation from the parties involved, Liverpool will play a charity friendly against Dortmund – another of Klopp's former clubs – as part of a legends match to raise funds for the LFC Foundation. Steven Gerrard will wear the Liverpool captain's armband, while Klopp will serve as an assistant to Sir Kenny Dalglish on the coaching bench.
All proceeds from the event will go towards the community activities of the LFC Foundation and Forever Reds. As an honorary ambassador for the foundation, Klopp affirmed that he is proud to continue his association with Liverpool off the pitch.
Klopp took over Liverpool in 2015, when the team was still a long way from achieving their Premier League title ambitions. Under his philosophy of high-energy attacking football, he transformed Liverpool into a team that conquered every major trophy, including the Premier League, Champions League, and FIFA Club World Cup.
On his farewell day at Anfield in May 2024, Klopp left behind many touching moments, as he sent heartfelt thanks to the fans and affirmed: "I am a part of you. I love you all. I will never walk alone again."
