Kroos spent 10 years with Real Madrid, achieving great success. |
Regarding retirement, Kroos didn't wait until his form declined or he suffered an injury. The decision was carefully prepared through numerous conversations with his family. For the former German star, retiring while still at the peak of his career is the way to respect his career, his fans, and himself.
Kroos also revealed the key to his consistent performance throughout a decade at the top: "Confidence is the first thing. I never went onto the pitch feeling anxious or doubting myself. Even when things were difficult, I never doubted my abilities, never felt scared. That's a crucial factor at a club like Real."
Kroos asserted that what defines Real Madrid's identity in the Champions League is the harmony between the team and the atmosphere in the stands. The energy of the fans is the catalyst that makes "Los Blancos" great, creating classic and incredible comebacks.
"Although he hasn't yet taken on any official role at the club, it's clear that Kroos is gradually 'returning' to Real Madrid – not as a player, but as an icon, representing the style, values, and identity of the Spanish royal club. The day he takes on an official role at Real is not far off," AS wrote.
