Messi won the MVP award in MLS. |
On the morning of December 10th, the MLS website announced Messi as the winner of the MLS Player of the Season 2025 award. With this award, M10 becomes the first player in MLS history to win the MVP award in two consecutive seasons.
Messi won overwhelmingly in the MVP race, receiving 70.43% of the total votes, far surpassing his rivals Anders Dreyer, Denis Bouanga, Evander, and Sam Surridge. He garnered 83.05% of the media votes, 55.17% of the player votes, and 73.08% of the club votes.
Sharing his thoughts upon receiving the award, Messi said: “It’s been a long year, lots of games and lots of travel. But it’s also been a historic year for the club. Inter Miami is very young, and winning the MLS Cup so early is truly special.”
In the 2025 season, Messi displayed brilliant form with 29 goals and 19 assists in 28 matches, helping Inter Miami win the MLS Cup and also claim the Golden Boot award.
Coach Javier Mascherano, former teammate and current Inter Miami manager, expressed his pride: "Messi has had a fantastic season, not only in terms of statistics but also in his fighting spirit and dedication."
Since joining Inter Miami in the summer of 2023, Messi has won a string of titles with the club: the 2023 Leagues Cup, the 2024 Supporters' Shield, a record points total in a single season, and now the pinnacle of the MLS Cup.
