Expectations for a "sweet" coffee harvest.

In the first eight months of 2025, Vietnam's coffee exports reached $6.4 billion, far exceeding the total coffee exports for the entire year of 2024. This is the reason why coffee prices have continuously broken records. Currently, coffee-growing regions in the province are entering the new harvest season. Coffee yields this season are predicted to be higher than in previous years. Coffee farmers are hoping for a bumper crop and high prices.

Thanks to high prices, coffee cultivation is yielding good profits. Consequently, many farmers in the province are interested in planting new coffee trees or replanting existing ones, causing the cultivated area to increase rapidly again. Coffee remains the main crop in the province, with a focus on investing in quality and building the Dong Nai coffee brand.

Coffee plants are returning to their golden age.

After several crop changes, the family of Ms. Mai Thi Tuyet, a farmer in Phu Vinh commune, has reinvested in planting coffee trees on an area of over 1 hectare. Currently, Ms. Tuyet's coffee garden is preparing for harvest.

Ms. Tuyet said: “Previously, my family had many years of experience growing coffee. The local soil and weather are very suitable for this crop to thrive. Due to the persistently low coffee prices for many years, my family abandoned coffee cultivation and switched to other crops. In recent years, coffee prices have continuously increased again, so I decided to replant coffee trees. This year's harvest is predicted to yield high productivity and good quality fruit. With the current high market prices, coffee farmers expect a bountiful harvest in terms of both yield and profit.”

In the first eight months of 2025, Vietnam's coffee exports reached 1.2 million tons, earning $6.4 billion, an increase of 8.7% in volume and 59% in value compared to the same period in 2024. Accordingly, from the beginning of the year until now, although the coffee market has fluctuated, the price of this commodity has remained high. It is predicted that in the 2025 crop year, coffee will continue to sell at high prices, bringing good profits to farmers.

Mr. Ngo Thanh Thanh, a farmer in Bau Ham commune, chose to intercrop coffee trees in his banana plantation. This year, his family's coffee plantation of over 3,000 trees has begun to bear fruit. Although it's only the first harvest, Mr. Thanh still expects a good profit thanks to the abundant fruit and the current coffee prices.
high level.

According to Mr. Thanh, coffee used to be the main crop in the area, but then the price of coffee dropped, so farmers switched to growing bananas. In the last 2-3 years, coffee prices have continuously set records, so many local farmers have replanted coffee trees. Compared to other fruit trees, coffee requires less investment, and after harvesting, farmers can store it and wait for better prices before selling, thus reducing the risk of price drops during peak season.

Creating added value for key crops through quality.

Dong Nai has a long history of coffee cultivation, dating back to the 1960s, due to its suitable soil conditions. After the merger, the province's total coffee-growing area reached over 20,000 hectares. Notably, the former Binh Phuoc province has developed many large-scale coffee-specialized farming areas. Among these, intercropping models of coffee in cashew orchards and other fruit orchards are increasingly proving economically effective. Many farmers replanting or renovating old coffee plantations are choosing new varieties with many advantages such as: quick harvest, high yield, and good quality.

Forecasts indicate that the area planted with coffee in the province will continue to increase due to the high growth rate of the coffee export market, which has led to record-breaking prices. Coffee will continue to be a key crop that the province's agricultural sector will focus on developing strongly in the coming period.

According to Ms. Le Thi Anh Tuyet, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dong Nai province: With a total area of over 20,000 hectares, Dong Nai province is one of the localities with the largest coffee growing area in the country. The province also has the advantage of attracting many corporations and businesses to invest in warehouses and factories for preliminary processing and deep processing of coffee for export. Therefore, Dong Nai has become one of the "coffee capitals" of the Southern region. Coffee continues to be a key crop that the province's agricultural sector will focus on investing in and developing in the coming time. In particular, models of organic coffee cultivation, specialty coffee, and sustainable supply chains will continue to be expanded to create added value for this crop through quality, contributing to building the brand of Dong Nai coffee.
