"A steel shield" amidst the vast forest.

The Central Highlands Riot Police Regiment has always maintained its political integrity and absolute loyalty to the Party, the Fatherland, and the People.

The predecessor of the Central Highlands Riot Police Regiment (E20) was the 1st Riot Police Battalion, a unit that had been stationed and operating in the Central Highlands since early 1978. To meet the demands of the new situation, on March 7, 2001, the Minister of Public Security issued a decision to establish the Central Highlands Riot Police Regiment.

On April 4, 2001, in Pleiku ( Gia Lai ), the unit solemnly held its oath-taking and inauguration ceremony - a significant milestone marking its organizational and personnel growth, and also becoming the Regiment's Traditional Day.

From that historic milestone, the Central Highlands Mobile Police Regiment quickly stabilized its organization, strengthened its forces, and continuously improved the quality of training and combat readiness. In this vast strategic area with complex terrain and challenging living conditions for the people, the officers and soldiers of the Regiment consistently upheld the spirit of "serving the people," proactively monitoring the area, providing timely advice, and coordinating closely with local police to maintain political security and social order.

Twenty-five years – a relatively short period compared to the nation's history, but long enough for the Central Highlands Riot Police Regiment to affirm its unwavering political resolve and absolute loyalty to the Party, the State, and the People.

Thoroughly understanding its assigned functions and tasks, the Regiment clearly identifies that high-level training, combat readiness, and rapid mobility are key factors in fulfilling its mission. Based on this, the unit continuously innovates the content and methods of training in a way that is "basic, practical, and solid," closely aligned with combat realities; and strengthens regular and advanced training. At the same time, it proactively monitors the situation, develops combat plans, and ensures the absolute safety of important political targets and events of the Party and State from the central to local levels.

Under the direct leadership of the Mobile Police Command, the Regiment has successfully completed many difficult and complex tasks; participated in ensuring absolute safety for key targets and important political and social events; combated and suppressed all types of crime; participated in disaster prevention and control, rescue and relief; and assisted the people in overcoming the consequences of floods, droughts, and forest fires.

For example, in 2019, following the directives of the Ministry of Public Security to reinforce the Kon Tum Provincial Police in the special operation in Ia Chim commune, the Regiment mobilized 664 officers and soldiers, closely coordinating with other forces to simultaneously attack, quickly subdue and arrest violent and unruly individuals; seizing many weapons and dangerous implements, promptly stabilizing the situation and maintaining security and order in the area.

The regiment constantly innovates the content and methods of training in the direction of "basic, practical, and solid," closely aligned with combat realities.

In particular, in the early morning of June 11, 2023, when terrorists used weapons to attack the headquarters of the People's Committees of Ea Tiêu and Ea Ktur communes (Cư Kuin district), now part of Ea Ktur commune (Đắk Lắk province), causing exceptionally serious consequences, the Regiment clearly demonstrated its courage and unwavering fighting spirit. Upon receiving the order, the unit promptly deployed 350 officers and soldiers, along with full weapons, equipment, and vehicles, divided into 7 attack teams, coordinating closely with functional forces to hunt down and arrest the suspects, ensuring safety in all aspects.

Not only is the Regiment a vanguard force on the front lines of ensuring security and order, but it also actively participates in civilian outreach and social welfare activities.

Implementing the "three best" movement (most disciplined, most loyal, closest to the people) launched by the Ministry of Public Security, the unit participated in the Quang Trung Rapid Campaign, coordinating the construction and repair of 123 houses for families affected by natural disasters in the eastern part of Dak Lak province. These practical and compassionate actions have contributed to enhancing the image of the riot police officer as not only a "steel shield" protecting peace, but also a close and intimate friend of the people.

With its outstanding achievements and accomplishments, the Central Highlands Riot Police Regiment has been honored by the Party and the State with many prestigious awards. Being twice awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces (in 1985 and 2003) is vivid evidence of the unit's glorious tradition.

The regiment also had the honor of being awarded the Third-Class Military Merit Order, the Second-Class Order of National Defense, the First-Class Order of Combat Merit, along with hundreds of commendations from the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Public Security, the Mobile Police Command, and other ministries, departments, and localities.

In particular, from 2021 to the present, the Regiment has consistently achieved the title of "Unit of Outstanding Achievement," including one year when it was awarded the Emulation Flag by the Ministry of Public Security - a well-deserved reward for the unit's tireless efforts.

Officers and soldiers of the Regiment interacted and met with village elders and influential figures among ethnic minority communities, contributing to strengthening the solidarity between the military and the people in the course of carrying out their duties.

Building on its heroic traditions, the Regiment is determined to continue strengthening Party building and developing a clean and strong force; focusing on political and ideological education, cultivating revolutionary character and ethics for officers and soldiers; promoting training, improving professional skills and combat readiness; proactively grasping the situation, promptly advising and effectively handling emerging situations, avoiding passivity and surprise.

Standing firm under the glorious banner of the Party, filled with pride and confidence, every officer and soldier of the Central Highlands Mobile Police Regiment today pledges absolute loyalty to the Party, the Fatherland, and the People; united in heart and mind, overcoming all difficulties and challenges; determined to build the unit into an increasingly regular, elite, and modern force, worthy of being the core force, a solid "steel shield" in the vast mountains, protecting the peace of the Central Highlands - a land rich in revolutionary traditions and aspirations for progress.
