This is the land preparation stage for the new rice crop. Because the land is cleaned (no herbicides, chemical fertilizers, or snail killers are sprayed), as the farmers plow the fields, small fish, crabs, snails, etc., are suffocated and rise to the surface. Many egrets and herons find this a favorite food. Furthermore, farmers consider these birds beneficial to the rice fields, so they don't catch or harm them. Therefore, this is a familiar sight for the villagers whenever they plow the land.
