Located approximately 100 km from the mainland, Phu Quy Special Economic Zone is undergoing a remarkable transformation in its marine economic development. From a pristine island, Phu Quy has "transformed" into a "green gem" with numerous potentials and advantages.

Located in the middle of the ocean, more than 100 km southeast of Phan Thiet and about 385 km northwest of the Truong Sa archipelago ( Khanh Hoa province), Phu Quy Special Economic Zone has favorable conditions for offshore fishing.

Over the years, seafood exploitation has remained the key industry identified by the locality. To date, the local fishing vessel capacity stands at 1,678 vessels. Of these, 130 vessels are used for purchasing and transporting seafood.

The entire special economic zone has 519 fishing vessels equipped with vessel tracking systems. Seafood catch in the special economic zone in the first quarter of 2026 reached over 3,570 tons, an increase of nearly 730 tons compared to the same period in 2025.

In this context, the maritime economy remains the cornerstone. Tourism in the special economic zone is developing strongly, gradually asserting its position as an attractive destination both domestically and internationally. The fields of trade, services, and transportation are constantly being upgraded and developed.

"To achieve this goal, the Phu Quy Special Economic Zone focuses on two pillars and three strategic breakthroughs. These include marine economy, island and coastal tourism, strategic infrastructure, and digital transformation," Mr. Loi stated.

At a meeting with the Phu Quy Special Economic Zone on April 12th, Mr. Ho Van Muoi, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, affirmed that Phu Quy has enormous potential and advantages. To develop the marine economy, the Phu Quy Special Economic Zone must first focus on exploiting two key industries: fisheries and tourism. For fisheries, the zone must produce distinctive products and build a brand for Phu Quy. The locality should call for and attract investors in the deep processing of seafood, as well as upgrading port and harbor infrastructure. Regarding tourism development, the locality must invest in infrastructure, improve service quality, and develop the island's marine landscape in a green tourism direction.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Muoi provides guidance.

It can be said that, with its unique geographical location, Phu Quy Island is gradually becoming a center for fisheries logistics services in Lam Dong province. With proper investment and development, Phu Quy Island will undoubtedly attract more and more tourists thanks to its distinctive and unique tourism products.
