Summer tourism is booming thanks to the holiday season.
The April 30th - May 1st, 2026 holiday period took place under a unique circumstance with Lien Khuong Airport temporarily closed for upgrades, yet tourism activities in the province remained stable, preventing any market disruption.
In practice, Lam Dong's tourism industry has demonstrated proactive and timely adaptation, as well as flexibility in regulating visitor flows and organizing activities.

Unlike previous years, this year's visitor numbers are not concentrated too heavily in the city center but are more evenly distributed, shifting towards suburban areas, eco-tourism destinations, agricultural tourism, and experiential tourism.

Occupancy rates at many accommodations remain at a fairly high level, commonly ranging from 70-80%, with some areas exceeding 80%, reflecting the attractiveness of tourism products associated with nature and open spaces.

Tourism trends continue to shift towards prioritizing experiences and personalization. Tourists are increasingly choosing vacation products that combine relaxation with exploration and local experiences; there is a growing trend towards small group and family travel; and the use of personal transportation, especially cars, allows for more control over their itineraries.

This not only contributes to extending the length of stay but also increases spending, enhancing the economic efficiency of tourism.

The highlight of the event is the opening ceremony of the "Welcome to the 2026 Summer Tourism Season" program, which coincides with the announcement of the Mui Ne National Tourism Area Master Plan. This event is significant in promoting the image and enhancing the brand of the destination; it also opens up new development opportunities through regional linkages between the highlands, the coast, and the Central Highlands.
According to Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Van Tuan: The Mui Ne National Tourist Area planning is a concrete step in realizing the province's tourism development strategy, creating a foundation for attracting investment, enhancing the destination's competitiveness, and aiming for sustainable development.

Notably, alongside the planning, connecting infrastructure is being accelerated, with the Phan Thiet Airport project - the newly commenced civil component - expected to create a major boost for tourism in the region.

The achievements during the holiday period not only demonstrate the tourism industry's ability to adapt to infrastructure changes but also create an important foundation for entering the summer tourist season with a more proactive and stable mindset.
Synchronizing solutions to reach the 25 million visitor target.
Based on market realities, Lam Dong province is implementing a comprehensive set of solutions aimed at attracting over 25 million tourists in 2026, contributing to the successful achievement of the province's double-digit growth target.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Loc, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lam Dong province, in the context of the temporary closure of Lien Khuong Airport, the tourism industry has proactively shifted its strategy to exploiting the road travel market, strengthening regional linkages and developing products that suit new consumer trends.
Accordingly, key solutions have been clearly identified and implemented in a coordinated and effective manner. First and foremost is the promotion of tourism stimulus programs linked to improving service quality.

In particular, in recent years, the province has focused on developing distinctive tourism products with high added value, such as ecotourism, resort tourism, high-tech agriculture, and community tourism associated with the cultural identity of ethnic groups.
This direction aligns with the trend of developing green and sustainable tourism, contributing to enhancing the competitiveness of the destination.

According to the Lam Dong Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, one of the strategic solutions is to strengthen regional linkages and form interconnected tourism routes between the highlands, coastal areas, and the Central Highlands.
This expands development opportunities, diversifies products, and extends the length of stay for tourists. These linked products not only attract new tourists but also enhance market exploitation efficiency.

Simultaneously, communication, promotion, and digital transformation efforts have been intensified, with the application of digital platforms, smart tourism maps, and increased online advertising. This is a crucial solution to enhance market access and build an image of a modern, friendly, and attractive destination.

Notably, the participation of nearly 40 businesses in the 2026 tourism stimulus program demonstrates the partnership and shared responsibility of the private sector alongside state management agencies in the process of restoring and developing the tourism industry.

With clear direction, synchronized solutions, and the involvement of the entire political system, Lam Dong's tourism industry is gradually realizing its goal of welcoming over 25 million visitors in 2026. This will affirm its role as a key economic sector, making a positive contribution to the socio-economic growth of the locality in the new period.
