Each good farmer in production and business is a shining example to encourage members and farmers in the whole province to rise up, change their thinking, boldly implement new models, promote the advantages and values of land and fields, thereby enriching themselves and their homeland.
More and more rural millionaires and billionaires
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hue (village 2, Thong Nhat commune, Ha Long city) is one of many typical farmers in the locality. Nearly ten years ago, she and her husband boldly converted nearly 2 hectares of their family garden to grow fruit trees, combined with digging ponds, raising fish, and raising soft-shell turtles. Up to now, more than 300 green-skinned grapefruit trees and nearly 100 guava trees of the family are regularly harvested, earning more than 100 million VND each year. Ms. Hue said: The family's previous cultivated area mainly grew vegetables, but the income was not high. Thanks to the shift to growing fruit trees, the economic value is higher than before, and the output is also stable.
In Cong Hoa commune (Cam Pha city), Mr. Pham Viet Trung is a typical example of a good farmer. Mr. Trung is currently the owner of a medicinal plant growing and processing facility (Morinda officinalis, Gynostemma pentaphyllum, Gymnema sylvestre, Artemisia vulgaris, Angelica sinensis...) with more than 40 regular and seasonal workers. The facility is producing 40 products, of which 14 are OCOP 4-star rated, 2 OCOP products are nominated for 5 stars; revenue is 400-500 million VND/month.
Mr. Trung said: Realizing that Quang Ninh has potential for developing medicinal herbs, I am determined to build a growing area, invest in a processing factory that meets GMP-WHO standards, and aim to produce goods. I am working with households and cooperatives to expand the growing area of medicinal herbs to neighboring localities.
The movement of farmers competing in good production and business has spread throughout the villages and hamlets in the province. The examples of good production and business farmers who dare to think and dare to do are increasingly appearing. Not only enriching themselves, they are helping many rural workers have stable jobs, promoting the development of the rural economy.
A typical example is Mr. Doan Van Chien (Tap Doan village, Thuong Yen Cong commune, Uong Bi city). In 2020, Mr. Chien invested in building a high-tech chicken farm with many modern equipment, such as: Cooling racks for use in the summer, heating boilers for keeping warm in the winter, wind fans, disease detection systems, machines for distributing and delivering food and water to the chickens... Thanks to the application of technology in farming, the chickens grow and develop well, bringing a good income to the family. The farm currently has a scale of 6 hectares, raising nearly 200,000 chickens each year, with a revenue of about 6-7 billion VND; creating jobs for 10 local workers with an average salary of over 10 million VND/person/month.

Every year, the province has about 60,000 members and farmers registering to compete in the Good Production and Business Competition at all levels. From the movement, more and more millionaires and billionaire farmers have emerged, inspiring the community with their dynamism, creativity and courage. With their production and business models, Good Production and Business farmers have supported job creation, tree and animal breeds, transferred science and technology , provided technical guidance in the form of "hand-holding", "farmers teaching farmers", leading poor and near-poor households to change backward and ineffective farming and livestock practices to advanced farming and livestock methods, applying science and technology.
To deepen the movement, the Provincial Farmers' Association directed all levels of the association to actively propagate and organize for members to register for production and business households at all levels according to criteria; coordinate technology transfer; direct the construction of pilot models; organize seminars and conferences to summarize and evaluate, replicate advanced models; visit and study effective models to apply to local production and business.
Typically, every year, the Farmers' Association of Co To district organizes study trips to enrich members and farmers, such as: Visiting and learning about safe vegetable production models in Quang Yen town, Dong Trieu town; raising white-leg shrimp, growing fruit trees, ornamental plants, raising pigs... of production and business households in the province. The Farmers' Association of Cam Pha city organizes conferences for senior members with large-scale farming to guide and share experiences in the field of aquaculture to new members.
According to Mr. Do Ngoc Nam, Chairman of the Provincial Farmers' Association, the province's rural areas still have a lot of room for development with potential and advantages in terms of land and large fishing grounds. With the experiences gained in the production and business process, along with creativity, diligence and hard work, we believe that the province's farmers will continue to succeed on the chosen path, becoming good production and business farmers, professional farmers, contributing to realizing the goal of developing modern agriculture, civilized countryside, wealthy farmers, and building Quang Ninh increasingly prosperous and beautiful.
