Get rich with a closed poultry farming model
Thanks to their acumen in technical approach and grasping market demand, Mr. and Mrs. Nguyen Van Tri and Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu, from Hoa Tan village, My Duc commune, Phu My district have successfully implemented a closed poultry farming model, from seed production to commercial chicken raising.
According to Mr. Tri's share, since 2009 he started to build a hatchery for breeding poultry in combination with raising commercial broilers. However, over the time of operation, he and his wife realized that raising commercial broiler chickens poses a great risk of disease and high input costs. Calculating and planning thoughtfully, after a period of preparation, he and his wife switched to investing in machinery to hatch chicks in order to actively breed offspring to serve the family's breeding needs.
In 2013, Mr. Tri and his wife invested in modern machinery and incubators to build a poultry hatchery. Up to now, the livestock farm is more than 5.000 m wide2 Mr. Tri's family is capable of raising chickens with a scale of 7.000 commercial broiler chickens, 3.000 chickens of the same father and mother.

Raising commercial broiler chickens is a popular economic practice in rural areas. However, if calculated correctly, at this stage, farmers are affected by many impacts such as high prices of raw materials and feed, frequent threats of diseases, higher cost of disease prevention, unstable selling prices of products, and many risks. Not to mention, in the breeding process, if the breed has to be imported, it still takes a lot of work to control the quality of the breed right from the moment it is imported.
Mr. Nguyen Van Tri shared: I research and learn more to be able to be proactive as much as possible. Since 2013, I have invested in hatching hybrid chickens to both meet the needs of my family and provide for the people around me. Controlling the source of input breeds, combined with raising poultry for commercial meat and raising poultry to provide eggs, so far my family's establishment has maintained and developed stably.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu, the reason why her and her husband's model has developed well is thanks to the attention and encouragement of the local authorities. Specifically, in 2009, she and her husband were poor households, the young couple just moved out of their own homes, so there were hundreds of difficulties; but thanks to the government at all levels to facilitate access to information channels related to support policies, livestock technical training sessions, and especially to be facilitated to access preferential loan packages from the district VBSP for continued investment, gradually both confidence increased. Having borrowed VND 25 million from the loan program for poor households to build chickens, Ms. Thu and her husband were very excited.
With the support of the government and all levels, from that capital out of poverty, over the years, Ms. Thu and her husband have gradually expanded their scale, increased the number of livestock herds, and found stable customers. In the second period of 2 and 2022 due to the impact of the Covid-2023 epidemic, the product is difficult to consume, there is a lack of costs to continue to maintain the model, Mr. Tri and his wife will be able to borrow VND 19 million from the employment support source of the Social Policy Bank of Phu My district to invest in buying food, renovating more barns to expand the area of poultry raising for eggs.
My Duc is one of the two horizontal communes of Phu My district to reach the new rural goal in 2022. Thanks to the implementation of the national target program on building a new rural area, along with the support of authorities at all levels, people in My Duc have had many conditions to access good economic models, from which they can learn and apply to get rich and make positive contributions to their homeland.
Mr. Dao Duy Nguyen, Chairman of My Duc Commune People's Committee said: We give great attention to cases like the family of Mr. Tri and Ms. Thu, because we believe that their creativity will inspire and strive for many other difficult households. Their success also comes back to encourage us to make more efforts in helping and guiding people to boldly develop their family economy, access to information, technology, and preferential loan packages.
