In a recent talk show on the topic of "Cultivating a Global Citizen's Mindset" held at the University of Foreign Languages ​​( Da Nang University), students showed great interest in the essential elements needed to become a global citizen.

Many students are concerned that, in the current context, Da Nang, which is the world's second-largest city (after Tokyo), is an attractive destination for digital nomads.

"This means young people in Da Nang are facing both opportunities and challenges to equip themselves with the skills to adapt to global trends and survive in the increasingly fierce labor competition right here in Da Nang," one student stated.

Sharing their insights with students, experts argued that global citizenship is no longer a distant concept. A global citizenship mindset is no longer just a necessary element in the development journey of 21st-century individuals.

This was the story that had to happen, here, now, not in the future or somewhere else.

The portrait of a global citizen therefore no longer refers to individuals who live and work in many countries, but rather to each person's understanding and adaptation to new cultural influences and lifestyles.

Today, an individual can be impacted and, conversely, create value and influence communities worldwide, regardless of their location.

At the seminar, Mr. Ho Thanh Binh, Deputy Director of the Institute of Educational Technology (CGD), shared that understanding the qualities and skills necessary to become a global citizen in the current context is crucial.

Young people need to focus on preparing themselves with the right mindset, knowledge, communication skills, cultural understanding, and awareness of global issues.

"This knowledge not only helps students develop themselves, but also helps them become positive contributors to the community and society, becoming active, responsible citizens who can integrate and cooperate with everyone, regardless of culture, nationality, or language," Mr. Binh shared.

According to Joe Kenny, co-founder of Zeeko, an educational technology company in Ireland, the essential skills for becoming an entrepreneur in a global environment are communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and critical thinking. These skills must be honed over a long period of time.

"Every young person must create their own strengths and unique qualities. They must not only surpass and outperform their peers in school and within the country, but also compete with rivals in other countries," Joe advised.
