With his goal against Japan, Van Dijk also made history for Dutch football as the second oldest player to score at a World Cup. At 34 years and 11 months old, he is second only to Giovanni van Bronckhorst, who scored against Uruguay at the 2010 World Cup when he was 35 years and 5 months old.

After a hard-fought draw with Japan, Ronald Koeman's team will turn their attention to the clash with Sweden (June 21) and then the match against Tunisia (June 26).
