During the voyage of Ship 936, the Naval Academy sent a delegation of cadets on a long-distance sea training mission, combining study, research, and visits to officers, soldiers, and people on several islands in the Truong Sa Special Zone, Khanh Hoa province.
When the ship arrived at the anchorage area near Song Tu Tay Island, the delegation was allowed to visit the island. The officers and trainees were deeply moved to meet the officers, soldiers, and people on the island.
Everyone took advantage of the brief, hurried moments to chat with the officers and soldiers on the island under the cool shade of the trees. The conversations became cheerful, with many questions eliciting laughter. Some young soldiers suddenly became shy and bashful when asked: "Do you miss home a lot? Do you have a girlfriend? What are your plans for the future after you leave the army?" This made the conversation open, natural, simple, and endearing.

Major Tran Thi Lan, a military doctor from the Naval Academy, shared: "Although the interaction and conversation with the officers and soldiers was very short, we felt the hardships they face on the island. When we talked to them and shared our thoughts, the soldiers were a little shy at first, but then they became more confident, expressing their wishes and future aspirations, and sharing stories about life on the island, their family circumstances, etc."
Sergeant Pham Quang Long, a soldier stationed on Song Tu Tay Island, said: "After leaving the army, I was determined to study for the entrance exam to the Political Officer School. If I become an officer, I dream of working in the Navy and returning to fulfill my duty of protecting the Fatherland in Truong Sa." This dream moved everyone, and they all wished the young soldier success in achieving his noble aspirations.

On Son Ca Island, as the delegation from the Naval Academy disembarked from the boat, they could see from afar the officers and soldiers lined up neatly, preparing to welcome them. With their tanned skin and bright smiles, they greeted their loved ones who had come to visit the island.
The delegation was surprised and moved by the island's neat and orderly appearance. Sergeant Do Minh Tuan, from Vinh Long province, shared: “Before enlisting, I graduated from the Ho Chi Minh City College of Industry and Trade. Since coming to the island, I have many memories and have always been surrounded by the love and care of my comrades. My time in the army is running out, and I am beginning to feel the longing for the island and my comrades when I leave. I will continue the work I have studied to help my family and contribute to building a stronger and more prosperous homeland.”

Bidding farewell to the officers and soldiers on the islands, every officer and student of the Naval Academy was moved. The words of advice, the handshakes, the hugs, the affectionate glances, and the belief that the dreams of the soldiers on the remote islands would come true.
As the welcoming arms waved goodbye to our delegation as we left the port, the officers and soldiers on the island continued their duty day and night to firmly protect the sovereignty of the nation's seas and islands.
