Departing on March 26th and continuing until this morning (June 30th), the team completed its 25th phase mission (dry season 2025-2026) and is returning to its homeland. The journey to "find teammates"
Lieutenant Colonel Vu Van Tho, Team Leader of Team K72, Dong Nai City Military Command, said: "Since March 26th, Team K72 has set off for the Kingdom of Cambodia with high political determination, responsibility, and sacred feelings stemming from the heartfelt orders of Uncle Ho's soldiers."

"The sweltering summer days and the scorching sun of this unfamiliar land did not deter the soldiers of Team K72, City Military Command," Lieutenant Colonel Vu Van Tho emphasized.
Under the dedicated and courageous leadership of Lieutenant Colonel Vu Van Tho, the team of officers and soldiers overcame hardships and dangers, traversing dense forests, streams crossing the border, and harsh weather conditions to search for every trace of their fallen comrades. By June 28, 2026, after more than three months of tireless effort, Team K72 had recovered 62 sets of remains from areas in the two provinces of Kratie and Kampong Thom (Cambodia) to bring them back to Vietnam.
This journey is marked by countless touching and unforgettable stories that bring tears to people's eyes. These include images of the soldiers of Team K72 selflessly digging under the scorching sun, and tears streaming down sun-tanned faces upon finding the last remaining relics: a fountain pen engraved with a name, a tattered piece of hammock fabric, or an old badge. This success was achieved thanks to the close attention and guidance of the National Steering Committee 515; the Party Committee and Command of Military Region 7; the City Party Committee, People's Committee, and Steering Committee 515 of Dong Nai City; the Party Committee and Military Command of Dong Nai City; and the practical support and cooperation of leaders and people at all levels in Dong Nai City.
In particular, during the hot and humid days in Cambodia, Team K72 received favorable conditions from the government, authorities, and people of Kampong Thom and Kratie provinces, who treated the search for Vietnamese martyrs' remains as if they were searching for their own family members. The close international cooperation between Dong Nai and neighboring localities created a solid foundation, ensuring absolute security and safety for the search operation. The remains of martyrs soon to be repatriated to their homeland are not only a testament to their heroic sacrifice but also a vivid symbol of the Vietnam-Cambodia friendship.
