A section of Tri An Lake is located within the Dong Nai Nature and Culture Reserve. |
Recently, the Dong Nai Nature and Culture Reserve (the reserve) signed a memorandum of cooperation with Oxalis Co., Ltd. (Oxalis, Quang Tri province), a leading company in developing unique tourism products, especially cave exploration tours and community-based tourism, which are recognized worldwide .
Unlocking potential
In 2025, Oxalis entered Dong Nai province and established a partnership with Cat Tien National Park. Oxalis researched and collaborated with Cat Tien National Park and the people of Ta Lai ethnic village (Ta Lai commune, adjacent to the National Park) to develop three new tourism products, involving 15 local people in Oxalis's tourism initiatives. Since May 2026, despite being newly launched, the products have achieved considerable revenue.
Following its initial success at Cat Tien National Park, Oxalis recently signed another agreement with the conservation area. Sharing the goals behind choosing Dong Nai as a location to develop new tourism products, Mr. Nguyen Chau A, General Director of Oxalis, stated: "In its 15-year journey of formation and development, the company has achieved significant accomplishments with world-class tourism products such as Son Doong Cave, the Phong Nha-Ke Bang cave complex, and several community-based tourism villages in the Central region. Currently, Oxalis wishes to expand and share its experience with other localities."
According to the 2026 Tourism Development Plan of the City's Tourism Development Steering Committee, this year, Dong Nai will focus on developing three main tourism product groups: eco-tourism and resort tourism; cultural and spiritual tourism; and agricultural and rural tourism, along with supporting products, to create diverse products and enhance tourist attraction.
Oxalis is aiming to develop a type of tourism where visitors can patrol the forest with the rangers and learn about biodiversity. This is expected to be a great product, generating significant media attention, which could then lead to the creation of other products, especially those that offer unique, groundbreaking ideas, transforming the reserve into an attractive destination that will draw global media attention.
Mr. Nguyen Chau A emphasized: "I hope to receive support from the city and relevant authorities in the journey of searching for and creating truly unique tourism products for Dong Nai. Based on that, we can strengthen communication to attract tourists from around the world, making Dong Nai an attractive destination."
As an investor interested in ecotourism projects, Mr. Truong Hoang Lam, representative of Lam Phan Co., Ltd. (Ho Chi Minh City), stated: Lam Phan specializes in developing 5-star standard accommodation projects using eco-friendly materials and has developed accommodation products in Khanh Hoa and Quy Nhon. According to Mr. Lam, Dong Nai has the advantage of being close to Ho Chi Minh City with a very large tourist market. The biggest advantage that Lam Phan is focusing on is the nature reserve area. Mr. Lam hopes that this area will become an attractive ecotourism destination, and his company will have the opportunity to participate in providing the best accommodation services for Dong Nai.
Creating new, unique tourism products.
The reserve manages 100,000 hectares of forest, including over 68,000 hectares of forested land, and over 32,500 hectares of Tri An Lake, which boasts diverse biodiversity. The reserve also contains 3 national-level historical and cultural relics and 2 city-level relics, including one archaeological site.
Sharing information about the conservation area, Deputy Director Dinh Thi Lan Huong emphasized: The City Party Committee and the City People's Committee want to develop Dong Nai into a green and sustainable tourist city.
This collaboration aims to create unique tourism products. The reserve hopes that, following the signing of the memorandum of cooperation, the reserve and Oxalis will create tourism products that leave a lasting impression on visitors, becoming a distinct brand for Dong Nai tourism.
The conservation area is committed to closely coordinating with Oxalis according to the memorandums of understanding signed during the field survey to create new tourism products for Dong Nai. At the same time, we hope to receive attention, support, and cooperation from city leaders and relevant departments during the survey and product development process.
